Will there be an end to opportunistic politics?
by Demo-crazy on Aug 08, 2008 06:57 PM  Permalink

If we look around, no political party is committed to principles, no citizen is committed to follow rules, and no administrator committed to work according to the rules without fear or favour. Everyone is looking at what is the short term benefit to the individual, a caste, or group of people. No one is bothered about the huge loss or cost to the nation.

Religious groups, extremists, have their own agenda. Some want to convert others, some want to kill in the name of religion, some want the hate to continue.

We citizens have forgotten our duty and responsibility. We are always looking at the short cut, quick gain, more benefit even at the cost of our neighbour, or, for that matter, even our own kin! We do not care for our past, we care little about our present and we can't even think of what is to be done for our future generations. Every one is self centred, living as if there is no tomorrow, and no world outside of one's self.

How can such a nation prosper? Politicians do not inspire confidence. Citizens should at least behave responsibly if this nation is to survive the mounting challenges. We continue to pull on because there are some who are still sensible, follow rules to some extent. But if this group also joins the others who disrespect the rule of law, imagine what will happen to this nation?

It is time to say NO to opportunistic politicians. It is time to say NO to corrupt administrators.

It is not clear what exactly is the message that the writer of the article wants to convey?

Why is he shy of saying what he thinks is happening and why?

this is Demoncracy, in the name of democracy its single family rule ,direct or indirect ...
If any other group intends to form govt the group will either be broken as it happended in 1977, put inot jails by declaring emergency .. or just made a communal party ... as if the congress never played ...
Just imagine when Manmohan singh was FM under PV, what great achivements he could do ... and now even after PM ... he could do nothing that a economist PM could have ...
the difference is vested interest of family is high priority .....
still people will euolize the family and anybody talks against them is either a terrorist or a fanitic or facist...

Sleeping over issues is doing well
inflation getting very high is doing well
frequent terrorist attacks is doing well.

othe BJP and congress are same ... the problem is u want better out of 2 worst, u cant point the problem ... go by either propaganda of BJP or Congress ...
When u question for best then we can get, u see ooh congress is more secular(no proof just propaganda) so its better that BJP ,,
so u are just selecting among devils ... and not try out anything new ..
Like the dialog in Sarkar Raj ... Indians donot want development .. just entertainment ....

BJP uses Hindu insecurity ... Congress, CPI, SP uses muslim insecurity ,,, make tamasha
we get entertainment and forget development ....

Incorrect
by Shyam on Aug 08, 2008 10:55 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I think the writer puts in some incorrect information. In the first place, election to vacant posts shall be held within six months only when the term of the house has atleast one more year to go. In this case, the term is less than one year left, as such bye polls are not mandatory. Secondly, the anti-defection bill is only regarding defecting the party they hold and either form a new party or join another existing party. Defecting should be by the members whereas there is no defection now - some members have merely voted against the whip and favouring another party. In voting every member has freedom to vote as he desires, it is only indiscipline and does not become defection. Therefore, they can be expelled from party but cannot be termed as defected since they did not leave on their own. Therefore anti-defection law cannot be applied. Then PM putting in dissolution is long awaited. The present situation (political and economic) may worsen if he allows 9 more months to pass on. So the earlier the better. Atleast he has one issue against CPM to project in public now, over the days he may lose even that. The results may not improve by delaying - the earlier the elections, the better atleast for the congress.

Correct interpretation and information.. and anyway writer is wrong in saying that treasury would have had more to lose.. as per his own information only 7 Treasury members would have gone whereas it would be 16 from opposition !!

Dissolution leading to fool's paradise
by achyut mishra on Aug 08, 2008 10:44 AM  Permalink

If PM goes for the dissolution, then he would be facing a nation reeling under inflation , politics without principle and yes Comrade Prakash Karat ,lwhose personal ego brought about that infamous trust vote. Mr Manmohan Singh , despiteof your being an economist of repue amd Mr Clean u r staring at defeat which u can't resist despite of a planned dissolution.
