RE:There are no rules on how many allowed in India...

Very good point. In US the cops really do a surprise check on gatherings in temples or Halls. If they exceed the number they order the function stopped and vacate the premises. We have a long way to go to implement such measures.
My sincere condolences to the members of the bereaved families in the stampede incident.
We need to focus on Tirupath temple also where large number of devotees are being regulated by temple authorities. They lock in a room where each devotee has to wait for hours before dharsan of Lord Venketeswara at Tirupathi.
The temple authorities delebrately to show the world that the temple is attracting unmanageable crowd. One can see outside the temple hardly any people because most of the people are locked in compartments.
There is also a problem at the main gate of the temple. Incoming and Outgoing people are being regulated through one common entrance where pulling and pushing is the usual scene in Thirupathi temple.
In my experience, one lady just fell down with her child and I immediately cordoned that place to save her from people walking on her. Such incidence are common in Thirupathi temple.
By locking the devotees in rooms, devotees are not allowed to move freely to pray to god. Opening the room suddently, a sudden rush to see the lord takes place.
Infact, if they allow it freely, I am sure there wont be much crowd.
Devotees can worship the god at their convenient time if they are allowed freely.
GOVERNMENT OF ANDDHRA PRADESH AND TEMPLE AUTHORITIES should make sure that free flow devotees are being arranged.
People go to the temple for peace of mind and not just get locked in a room or get killed like Himachal pradesh incident.

Such places of worships are just money making ventures. They neither care for the gods/s nor the devotees. I have never visited Tirupathi despite passing thru the nearest Rly Stn (Renigunda) dozens of times nor have I visited Siddivinayak temple despite staying in Mumbai for more than 30 years.
Wats Happening in India,, we are just blaming eachother communities and forget tht God is planning something else from past one week we hve 17 Bomb blasts in Ahmedabd 8 Bomb Blasts in Bangalore 45 Killedin Ahemedabad and 2 killed in bangalore 28 Bombs defused in surat 21 killed in Train Inferno in Andhra 140 Killed in Stampede in Temple in HP Just Flashin News 58 labourers killed in Bihar as truck fall into collpased bridge Jammu Burning into curfew due to Amarnath Land row..
Wher the hell is our humanity going , we have lost of consciences , in time of being together we always end up arguing and blaming, its nature that brings lot of deaths not man , its nature tht we shud respect, we r polluting the whole environment with Nuclear energy, Bombs, Iraq war by US has caused almost 70% effect on our climatic changes ,, God shud save us,, Al the Best Lets all be One Power as INDIA rather than muslim christ sikh or hindu we r ONE , lets Pray for our country and the souls that departed us in a week or so, GOD BLESS U ALL GUYS
The mishap is a result of gross negligence of the govt which failed to regulate the movements of the pilgrims despite knowing that there would be such a surge of devotees on the annual celebration. This is an eye opener for all the religious places where congregation of people is expected to be large like this to take all precautions to regulate the mobility of the devotees and ensure non-recurrence of such incidents-especially in places like Sabarmalai also which had incurred already brunt of such mishap in the past for once.

Mishap is due to bad karma of devotees, They must have sinned in their previous lives and had to pay in this life ---- Hinduism

May be true to some extent. But Malik!Thinking like that,no govt worth its salt can shelve its primary responsibility of taking all preventive measures towards its people.
Through your message board I wish to extend condolence to the families of the victims of this tragic incident. But I am surprised and shocked that we so called educated people are abusing each other in this tragic moment,we should refrain from this, point here is that we all know pilgramages happen then why dont we have ready disaster management teams, if this would had been we could have saved our devotees.
Don't you guys think that we illitrate Indians deserve to die this way??? What on earth takes us to temples ,kanwad yatras and all those kumbha ka melas??? Are we left with no reasoning??? We know that to get God we don't need to be hypocrite and do all these things we can have god at home if our conscience is clean, our morals are high,we respect our elders and do nothing to harm others. No but we will not do these things because this is not easy to do and instead just going to temples and kumbh will be enough to reach that almighty.....God bless this country of blinds...

Rajesh Raman at this time of deep sorrow you are hurting the sentiments of Himdus. It is Aastha that drives so many Pilgrims to this Temple. The Devotes donot need your advise for not to go to Temples.

Aaaah astha!!! leading to 130 people being killed like animals. I rather protect life than have astha to some phallus, or rat or some stupid animal. I dont think people worshiping and living like animals deserve anything better than this.

Right .. I wish there should be most safety in public places. The collapsed railing caused the spread of rumours and thus the damage.
I understand your point but actually we can't decide what is wrong and what is right. People are driven by beliefs its one's own perspective
We are back again full of tragedies and unnecessary deaths. Why doen't the govt. set up a series of safety measures to be respects by any place open to public? Temples included. Once upon a time when there were few people to crowd into temples it was allright to have small passages to walk through before darshan. Now there are always tens of thousands going to witness festivals, special darshan etc; when the govt. has set up safety measures during the Kumbh Mela (we know it is because foreigners are there and the world is watching on TV), why not everywhere else, instead of merely shaking their heads and speaking set phrases of regret for those dead?
Maybe we should invit foreign TV to televise all our temple gatherings, at least this would pressure the govt. into thinking that we Indians too have lives worth somthing.
