Indian intense efforts to get equal rights as an advanced H-bomb weapons state, is very similar to the colonial freedom, civil rights for colored people, and anti-caste, anti-apartheid movements since Mahatma Gandhi's life. THE quote "India always have permanent interests but no friends" is really funny. Indians always have personal interests but no permanent national interest. Look at the workings of our babus and politicians. USA on the other hand will do anything to protect its national interest, even murder.
Its surprising that Gray states that India is only bothered about protecting its own interests. But isnt the West also the same...the whole idea of NPT itself is designed to protect the interests of the West, it gives them the right to permanently keep nuclear weapons while denying it to the rest of the world. How come the West doesnt take the decision of destroying these weapons? Obviously because its against there country's long term strategic interests to do so. So Mr Gray should lecture the West first before accusing India of safeguarding its interests.
It is a clear case of Pakistan Lobbying desperately with Non- Proliferation Lobby to stall the agreement - The aim being "If I can't have it They should not have it". Pakistan had been a rouge state under Musharraff's rule peddling Nuclear Technology for money to prevent total financial collapse of the country. All the funding that US has given to Pakistan for dealing with the Terrorists has been used only for procurement of arms to be deployed against India. It is a well known fact that ISI has been funding and abetting Terrorism. The day is not far off when we will now have Nuclear Terrorism sposored by Pakistan. I am sure that the Nuclear Technology is already sold to the Terrorists. Realisation is slowly dawning in Bush's mind that Musharraff has taken him for a right Royal Ride and the US is now talking tough. I wish Bush will bulldoze Pakistan's efforts to stall the Agreement. look no one wants to give away power. India is also not interseted in getting its N plants come under control of IAEA . But the problem is power. It is politically suisidal to ignore people demand for power. Do not blame if left-moiast get into power in indian then
I think India Hurried up the deal with USA because
china will not dare to oppose openly for this DEAL in NSG etc. during the time its own Olympics are going on... they cant take chance with Dalai Lama during this time...

Much of what Squassony and Gray have mouthed is balderdash. To say that India is like British, having only permanent interests and no friends. These gluttonous, loud mouthed Yankees think that their interests alone constitute international/global interest!! But all the same, I fully agree that the 123-Deal should get scuttled at the IAEA and NSG votings. Such an outcome will be truly in India's interests, as that will put paid to traitor Manmohan Singh's plans to not only surrender Indian civil nuke technology leadeship but also India's sovereighnty to US's foreign policy interests. As to the contention of these bloated egotists that India will gain access to nuke technology from US! It is the most laughable statement made by these lobbyists. What civil nuke tech does the US have worth the name? If they say India could gain from France or Germany, then it is credible. But as such India has no nuke cooperation worth mentioning with France and Germany. In fact, these Europeans sneered and jeered India when BARC announced its intent to develop carbide fuel mixture and FBR technology about 3 decades ago. Since then India's nuke scientists have scaled many peaks and crossed many milestones only dreamt of by these confrontationists. One can only hope that Indian nuke science will get at least another 5 years of ascetic isolation from these depredators and spying moles. At the moment India is at the threshold of developing the FBR and the Thorium based energy cycle.
