Don't be upset my friend... most of the top institutes have ways of filtering out students who are not upto the mark. Just getting into IIT is not good enough. If your GPA falls below a certain mark, you will be out; which means if incompetent students get in easily due to the quota, they will get out easily too!

We will not allow that. We will also introduce amendment in COnstitution so that same proportion of students also graduate as general category. We have the power of numbers. Tamil Nadu is the best example of this.
I had many, many BCs and OBCs as classmates when I was in University in India. They were all without exception very, very bright people. So, I find it difficult to believe that they would need reservation. The strange part of all this is also that I know one particular community which is considered "forward" in AP but OBC in Karnataka. This is because the community in Karnataka had political power to ask for a "backward" tag!!! In no other country do people want to be seen as "backward".
Okay, let's accept at least the inevitability of this. But the important question is after people fill quotas, if they dont do well, will they still be passed? Second, if they do badly, will they still get preference/quotas in jobs? Where does this all end. After 60 years, reservations have not lifted people and the quotas remain in place despite the original good intentions (wanted reservations for 10-20 yrs) of people such as Ambedkar who despite his tag was a learned and accomplished man.
No politician has had the guts to say this and to make policy changes that will REALLY help and hasten the improvement of the SCs/STs/BCs etc.

Creamy layer is a great beginning to make Reservation to reach the needy ..
BTW reservation is of no major consequence as you have 100s of option in private institutes in country and abroad ...If some is bright they will get scholorship and will move on
Only the OBCs who dont have their family circumstance etc and lack op opptys is not providing them confidence and so on...hence this helping hand for needy to as much as possible ...

What makes you to think all wise men in Supremen Court ( 5 judges in unanimous verdict ) and all polical parties support this ...
There is a merit in Reservation to make India inclusive society ... You can't stop it as OBC is majorit in India , whether you like or not and in democracy Majority counts

Its just not about like and dislike of an individual, here we are talking about a prosperous and developed INDIA. DO you think this is a way to make INDIA develope? Don't you think for developement of country we need quality not quantity? Its shame on the persons, peoples and all incividual who thinks that with reservation they will get admission on IITs, IIMs and other central govt institutions.Politicians are doing this becuase of votes, they are not even looking INDIA after 20 years, today we are walking on seventh heaven because of INDIAN economy is growing? Do you think its really happening? No its not we cant see this grown economy on our streets, we can not see it on roads or schools, colleges, small villeges . its just a show we need to convert it in reallity and for that we need quality engineers quality doctor. we all are indians and we are the furture of INDIA. we must not support this move of INDIA.

That is correct. Also, in another 30-40 years Muslims will become majority in India. Then we will bring back Islamic rule which kept India prosperous for almost 1000 years! All who do not want to live under Muslim rule can then leave India. We will make Urdu the national language. We will soon have the numbers my friend and our glorious past is coming back.

Calling a Muslim a Kafir is blasphemy. Once Sharia is reintroduced in India, you may have to suffer very much for making these kinds of accusations.
I have seen many people in this forum, arguing against reservation. I don't understand why this Forward people, who enjoyed the education and administrative advantage for many hundred years, not able to give a piece of opportunity the socially and educationally suppressed backward , SC/ST. The society should grow in inclusive way only. When we had many jobs in public sector and Govt, this reservation had not come through. Now after, everything is opened to private and Govt and public sector jobs are almost over, this reservation has come. Even if one gets into admission to IIT and IIMs, unless he perform well, he will not get job. Then , why the hell people are crying here ?

Yes My friend, I agree with you....totally... Just think about reservation.... The reports are not prepared by idiot people they are well experience government employees (Most of them have passed very big exams like IAS). so they have think that OBC class people are very less in government jobs as well as in privet sectors.... If you not realise this think...just look at your surrounding people.. I am sure there will be more than 50-60% bramhin people and other upper class will be 25-35 % people. And think what is the pupulation in whole country from upper class, (not more than 25%).
I read some where there are only 4% Brahmin in our country and ruling on 60% of higher level jobs in India including government sector and privet sectors.
Then what the hell is this democracy, this situation like English rulers English people were only 1% (may be less than 1%) in India, but they were ruling ..... Now situation is same but instead of English people they are now Brahmins who are ruling in all higher level jobs..
So, being a democratic country, Every body should have equal opportunity to go ahead. Yes I am agree with that some of us will heart from this new government law, but this is the democratic country. And the rich people should be excluded from this benefit, that what the government has done. Theoretically, it looks good OBC quota theory.

Yes man, These very same forward caste people once cried to the British to institute a separate third class for them and make them pass degree. Denied eduation for 6000 yrs ?, dude before the brahmins most of India was tribal, i.e folks like the masai from Africa, the brahmins duty was to educate, ofcourse, no where in the world was there 100% literacy, so folks who did labour jobs could not get education, and by the way there have been many shudra kings for which the brhamins performed puja, so dont give any bullshit about that. Now if an inefficient candidate is given the oppurtunity, dont you think it is being wasted ?, just imagine the country's missile being developed by idiots and when the time comes to fire them, the explode right there !!!, i guess this is what the "majority" what, so be it ! om tat sath

Let us assume that your claim that Brahmins put down everyone else for hundreds of years (it makes me laugh out while typing that out though!) in all fields.
Lets go ahead and vilify the Brahmins to the maximum possible extent.

Hi , no one is talking anything bad about Brahmins ...they co exist very very well in South India with OBCs ( not counting the ones who left earlier to US/UK :-))
We ae only talking of helping people with dificulties in coming up in society ..

It does not mean that, all forward community should move out of india. Always, the people who are at better position should act like a big brother, not like a lion eating all the small animals. All these educated brahmins are mostly working for other countries only. Too selfish !!
This a good judgement as it has following benefits
1. 54 % additional capcity is getting added in all higher education institutes within a year ( which otherwise would have taken 20 -30 years more )
2. Creamy Layer is excluded ( No kids from MLA/MP ...No one with more than 2.5 Lakhs per annum salary ) which will make is available to needy ....We must do this Poor backward people ( will be happy we can cover Poor upper caste too with some % )
3. Quotas much higher than 49.5 % has been extended in all education institutes ( including private!! ) and Govt jobs for almost 50 years ....It has helped more balanced society in South and South India is extremly prosperous and will lead the same way for some time to come
This is a shameful piece of news to read. IIM and IIT which were considered as the last bastions of true intelligence and genius will now be governed by Quote bull shit. These institutions whose names used to inspire people will now be nothing better than the roadside local colleges we see in cities ... this decision is totally baseless and it is shameful to see that even after 60 years of independence our country has not learnt a single thing and still believes in this crap of reservation, quota and god knows what else ... I suggest we all should get a caste certificate soon or else there won't be a single place left in India for the Open category students to study.
Shame on the government and shame on the SC and most of all shame on the people who even came up with this preposterous idea
