No to Nuclear Power
by sharpshooter on Sep 02, 2007 11:35 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This Nuclear Deal should not come through. I have nothing against India's sudden friendship with America, but It's Nuclear Power I am against. Does anyone who is supporting this deal know what to do with used Nuclear waste when we are done with producing Nuclear Power?
Nuclear waste is radioactive for approximately 25000 years and has to be buried deep inside the earth for more than 100000 years for it to become completely harmless. Do you know what can happen if an earthquake were to break open the concrete tunnels in which Nuclear waste is buried in the ground? We would be left with generations of physically and mentally deformed babies and rampant cancer.
For information about Nuclear waster, please read:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_waste

For information on what radioactivity can do to human life, please read this article:
http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/asiapcf/08/30/btsc.chance.nukes/index.html

Is this what we want to leave our future generations? In the mad race to befome a super power, let's not create a dangerous future for our generations to come.
Say NO to Nuclear Power, even for peaceful purposes.
We already have enough Nuclear sites to take care of our security needs and we don't need any more of this devil's technology. Anything that can deform an unborn human life is against humanity and it is in our nation's interest that we do not subscribe to these inhuman ideas of our politicians. Let's all say NO to Nuclear Power.

You got to learn how to handle Nuclear waste.
It is part of the game. Any way Radioactive stuff is lying scatterred on Earth and we have concentrated it in Reactor, got the Heat out, converted to electricity.

If you are so much scared of Hazards than one day an Earth quake can come and you may die in your house. SO Go back to Jungle and live with Jungle elements.

Foolishness has a limit. Radioactive stuff when in it's ore form is hardly radioactive enough to harm man. It's ony when it is refined and concentrated that it becomes radioactive enough to harm humankind. If only we spend one hundredth of the money we will spend on nuclear power plants, we can increase the distribution efficiency of our existing power lines and this would almost increase power delivered to consumers by one third. Also, countries like France which were predominantly Nuclear powered, are pulling out of it and looking for other forms of generating power. Yes, we Indians have this habit of going for anything which the developed world has scrapped. And did any of you know that none of our Nuclear Power Plants are running profitably? I can say this with confidence, having spent a good part of my life woking on systems which included Nuclear power generation.

If N-Deal is inked, the Gates of china through which money is flowing to left wing parties may get closed (as he feels that Chinese will be angry). But Bardhan, I will assure you that if N-Deal is inked, the flood gates of money flow from China to all left minded organizations, NE ultras and Naxalites will increase many folds. So please Support N-Deal for your selfishness

They say people get wise with age, but these Commies never grew up.These Naxalites in white collar always tried to block India's progress with their extinct ideology. But do they have a point here? What happens if Canada and Australia deny us Uranium at some point. These 2 Nations are friendly with USA. Chance of arm twisting later ?

yes of course Mr.Ishwar is correct. But one thing to be remembered is that in any country's history, if at any time they have contracted for any thing with the USA, then think that the country is basically gone. Because USA is such a country that it lacks the heart and soul and it behaves too radically--that even if the whole people of a country are dead, they want only those things which they wanted initially. With India also who knows what they have in their mind. For eg. what happend to the Dhabol Power Plant contract with the Former Enron. What a hue and cry was carried out. So with USA, we should be doubly cautious and not at all seen anchoring at or with them at any one point. Of course they are neither like the BRITISH or the RUSSIANS. They are just AMERICANS--THE COW BOYS with only madness as their asset. Nuclear energy we need, but with USA at what price? This is the question to be answered. If we are not careful, then we will become a country like ANGOLA, IRAQ, AFGHANISATAN etc.
SO THESE WORDS OF CAUTION.

Hi,Sankar

Your points are valid and make sense.

The problem we face is that we overly dependent on the Middle East for our energy requirements. It can make us vulnerable anytime. Nuclear energy is diversifying our risks. How we protect our interests are to be left to our capable negotiating team. We are not party to all the details. China overcame all opposition to put up 18000mw three gorges dam. They had opposition to that, but they have a way to meet them effectively. As Deng used to say, it does not matter whether a cat is white or black, it has to catch mice. Now these huge hydro dams are keeping their economy buzzing. We are battling opposition to hydro projects for years, without any progress. Any initiative is just opposed. Why can't we look at in a positive way, if we do not have a better option?

I feel inaction is worse than being worried about all consequences of any action. We have limited options. The leftists opposed all computerisation and see their stupidity.

It is time we trust our skilled negotiaters who have done yeoman constructive work. We cannot also expect USA to give technology, fuel on a silver plate. If we have a better alternative, let the leftists put it up. Time to create than always destroy.

I agree with Shiva, we need Forward path.
Time and again I say, we are not a baby , whose milk bottle will be taken back by USA.

We know how to carry on if US / CANADA / AUSTRALIA back out. ( Whatever reasons)

Right now we are already operating 8 reactors under IAEA safegaurds and we are getting Nuclear fuel.
After 123 agreement our base will be widened and we can scale up our pace of construction of 1000 MW reactore with latest design as well as control instrumentation.

Some Advices for Mr Bardan and Karat for you to maintain your anti US Stance
by Indian JaiHind on Sep 02, 2007 10:36 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

1. Even if you or your your family members die from medical problems, Never undergo Surgery. Because most of the advaced medical equipments are invented by either US or western countries.
2. You should not be using Laptops/Computers because it contains all components which were invented by US Companies.
3. When you travel from Calcutta to Delhi, better walk, Dont take flight because most of passenger aircrafts are made by either BOEING or AIRBUS which is either US / European. china is yet to produce any Commercial Passenger Aircraft.
4. No communist should send their Children to US for higer studies. Send them to China, Let them learn Chong-Pong instead.
5. You should NOT be even using telephones, Mobiles etc because China didnt invent them.
If you are not ready to give up any of those mentioned above, You are not true communist. It is just your double standards.

These idiots are having a complex right now as their ideology is dying a nasty death.

They have to keep cribbing and they are digging their own grave. Today Big bluff Karat has opened his lousy mouth one more time.

Here is what he said today.

Defence Framework Agreement with America would make India a %u201Csubordinate military ally of the United States.%u201D

All these days when we went with defense framework agreement with Russia and kept buying their inferior MIGs he did not have any problem. Now the Russia themselves are kissing US's Butt he now has nothing to do.

Also what does he want India to do? Have a defense framework with the Chineese. Nehru forgot about India while having a ball with Lady Mountbatten and now give way to China again so that they can take over more land?

He is scared as the US-India partnership will make China small and he cannot see that happening.

Watch our Karat, the chineese will soon shove it up your a55.

I wait for solutions from these no hoppers. Deng saw the failure of communist theories, as everybody wanted free lunches and the country sank into deep poverty. He realised wealth has to be created first to think of sharing. In communist systems, no incentive to work. The Chinese soon thrived overseas like the Indians.

Yesterday, Bush gave an interview listing out his priorities. India did not figure in that. China was top in the list followed by Iraq, North Korea, Climate change etc. We are important only if we want to be. Otherwise, we will go like Africa, a dark continent despite its vast natural resources. Death due to starvation is given and nobody bats an eye.

I want the supporters of leftists to list out their achievements in West Bengal & Kerala. For most, it is Mother Theresa and the millions who left Kerala to eke out a living to support families back home. While these leftists free loaders were protecting the "rights" of unionised workers, their pay masters the poor, were working in horrble conditions and many became strangers in their own homes, when they finally returned. The poor became poorer and these free loaders had no clue about productive ventures and thriving in chaos.

The progress that we see now are due to the returning natives, who try to start ventures despite opposition from these defeatists.

What future can they promise? Take a walk down Shangahi & Beijing and stay there. You can be satisfied at the success of your system!

Nuclear Deal Politics Takes a Turn - Left's Bark is over
by Indian JaiHind on Sep 02, 2007 09:42 AM  Permalink

The lastest news is that Prime Minister and Sonia Strongly asserted that they are going ahead with the Nuke deal. That is a new shock to them. There might be pity politics going with left here. As most of the polititions now know that Nuke deal is supported by most of the people, they want to isolate Left here. Also BJP took a U-Turn here. LK Advani reportedly said they are not against the deal and not against America. That indicates that BJP may also come out with support for the deal that will isolate left from public opinion and they will bite dust. Left is now in a Political Paranoid. After doing so much Barking if Congrss goes ahead with the deal, all indians will think there is no importance of LEFT in indian politics, That will be an insult to them. They will be helpless.

open debate on this issue - 123 agreement
by Gurudutt kamath on Sep 02, 2007 09:38 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Through out the hot discussions and brickbats that are going on since some time now, none even the scientists do not make a mention of thorium based nuclear power we are aiming at and hopefull of achieving the results by 2015 or so. The thorium based process shall be our own than the uranium based process for which we need to depend on US and other NSG coutires.

Therefore, as the government of the day is hasitating till today on having an open discussion on the issue, raises strong doubts on our PM's intentions on this pact.

Man, what you should understand here is 'It is not as easy as Extracting Energy from your COW's Dung'. It requires substantial technology to extract energy from this materials like Thorium etc. That is what US agreed to help with us , transfter of whatever technology to make Nuclear power affordable. You should understand that US was the country who exploded an atom bomb in Japan when we were thinking about making GUND(A deewali Fataka). They are at least 30 Years of Technology than any country in the earth.

You have hit the nail on the head. These commies, only know hold our country backward.

For the initial 40 years, Nehru and his perpetual dynasty held the country back, then the leftists tried to stifle growth.

I think the leftists dont cater to Indian interests, but the chinese interests. China is already nervous about the nuclear deal , and are using the commies to scuttle India's growth.

As Mr.ManMohan Singh rightly pointed out, this nuclear deal is possible because of the friendlist US President, George Bush, because of which the nuclear deal is going forward.

India has shown, what it can achieve in the economic field, because of liberalizing its economic policies. We are No.1 in the IT field.

Down with the Communists, the dying ideology, which is gasping its last breath.

Hegde economic liberalization has nothing to do with the nuclear deal. Its basically the kangress party and especially MMS that has failed to deliver on the second tranche of reforms. So much for being the champion of reforms, it was PVNR's steel that allowed the first tranche to happen and the economy we see is a result of that.

Hi Parker,

It is easy to criticise MMS, but have you given any thought to the balancing act he has to go through? His supporters are not only the leftists but also Karunanidhi, who extracts a very heavy pound of flesh and was also hitting MMS below the belt. The only alternative for MMS is to hell with it, but he tries his best to complete the term, despite the blackmail of all and sundry. The alternative is BJP with again leftists and how are they going to solve the energy problem. The problem that we face cannot be resolved by a change in govt, as nobody will support India without the backing of USA. While USA can be a convenient whipping boy, our terror situation would have been worse without USA standing up to that.

PVNR was in a different situation as our earlier policies bankrupted us. The only way was up and the leftists were lying low. Now their stomachs are full again and the little fellow up (may be down also), their brain, is overactive. They think they can get more seats, forget about "national interests", as party is more important than nation. The nation can wait.

Mr. Bardhan What is wrong with you stupid communists? When did you start talking about Hell and Heaven? Are U feeling like sitting in Hell with the Communism crumbling across the world and the mentality of all you guys have become open to the public?

Yes it is true that the deal will not open the gates of heaven, but will definitely close the gates of hell that we are living in with the Communists and Communism.

Let us take one step at a time. Close the gates of Hell first and then open the gates to heaven. As long as there are Devils in the country there is no point of talking about heaven. Let us crush the devils first so the path to heaven will not have any more Obstructer(s).
