These policemen committed a mistake, as they wrongly identified two businessmen as dreaded criminals from UP. It was a mistake done by a paid informer/spotter, who wrongly signalled to the policemen that the persons in the car were the gangsters the policemen were lying in wait for. Their intention was to kill the gangsters NOT the innocent persons who got killed.
A lot of us make mistakes in our professions -- software engineers write wrong code, investment bankers make wrong investment recommendations, doctors operate wrongly, cricketers play wrong shots often....is this the way people are going to be penalized ?
If Sanjay Dutt gets the benefit of doubt as his "intentions were not malafide", though he procured an AK-47; I wonder how can policemen in the line of duty NOT be given the benefit of doubt, when their intentions were NOT malafide ?

i totally agree with you. others are people who live from their bedroom to kitchen to a few pubs and do not know the life outside it. in the real world, there people risking lives so that we can live without fear. rathi was one such hero.

Sumanta Deb,The actions of the trigger happy cops cannot be compared to that of mere possesion of weapon by Sanjay Dutt, the intent of which only Dutt knows while the court can draw various inferences.
It is true in the Delhi shoot out case,it appears the cops got some wrong information and hence bungelled. But which section of the law gives them the authority to kill without identifying the person. It may be noted the rights of self defence are limited and even in the gravest provocation the law enforcers are supposed to 'IMMOBILISE'by shooting at the lower body and not shoot to kill.
Empathise with the persons killed, they could be I,You or any innocent person down the road.Just saying 'policemen committed a mistake'will not make good the irreperable loss to their kith & kin.

by committing mistakes do people in other fields kill people. Does Mr. Deb expect govt/court to give the guilty policemen medals for bravery.
This funishment is not at all suficient for such people. almost all took so many years and finaly they got life time instad of deth. Meanwhile whats happenign with Banajara and others in Gujrath? still no news from any one including media too. Banjara is havign good time in jail because of Modi and Advani..Still Guj people respect stupid Modi and Advani..Headless people they are!!! All gujus headless those are supporting such people
There have been various instances when the law keepers have turned into brutal law breakers, this being one of them.In no way should the department try to hide the facts and figures.Kudos to the court abd CBI. _________indiatvstation.com

The Punishment for Police as well as other department officials should be double then the common citizen, because they are getting salaries and other facilities with the money paid by Common Citizens, to implement law and Order.

I hope you are aware that you are in India and the incidents also happened in India.. Let's have some solace that atleast this verdict came after long 10 years.
Iam happy that some verdict has come after just 10 years. They will be happy that they can enjoy full police protection like a VIP,free food and care in jail which they might not get in their own home.
i did not understand why the law takes its own time(ten long years). ten years is a very long time to deliver justice. during such along time even some of the undertrials may have lost their lives due to some reason or the other. whereas the victim's family may have forgotten and may be forgiven the culprits. this is high time that law enforcers should not break the law for some medals or promotions. it is shame on them that they take oath(i will perform my duty even at the cost of my life).Nowadays these police personnel wants to perform their duties to please some politicians or to get promotions.there is no meaning in taking oath like i will perform my duties to the best of my ability and even lay down my life to protect common man.

Aslam, don't speak like Gandhi. What's a policeman's job other than to demand bribe, salute corrupt politicians, rape etc.etc. If every policeman is good, there will be no crime. If there is no crime, what will the lawyers do?If lawyers don't have job, what will the judges do?

All Police officials are Haramkhors, Corrupt and Law Brakers, they are being paid to keep Law and Order , instead they breat it. The Police officers should get double punishment than the common person for breaking the Law.
