Take up our generous offer and brace yourself.

Cheat us once. Shame on you.
Cheat us twice. Shame on us.

Enough of this for 7000 years.
Our party is offering a separate state/nation to upper caste who are less than 10% of India.

reservations and politics
by navratan bafna on Mar 07, 2007 05:40 AM  Permalink

who will be benefitted by reservations is very clear -- only politicians.
britishers did--divide and rule.
new age britishers( politician) are doing the same.
the way we kicked out britishers lets be togather and make sure every indian get the oppertunity to study and let there ne no reservation.
but do not think that it will not happen as all parties are unanimous on it. so enjoy it and find the other path of success. even if it is migration.

Fate of Quota Policy
by Suresh Menon on Mar 06, 2007 10:00 PM  Permalink

The policy of the present government is clear: 1. Increase vote bank by appeasing muslims (only they are being talked about as minority community at prsent)

2. Divide hindu votes in whatever way possible to keep away BJP from coming to power.

So now term secularism has come to mean anti-hindu. This is what is being conveyed by our politicians and media on daily basis, though in a subtle manner. The majority religion of this country is being made into a casualty through historical distortions and crass cultural exploitation of its masses.

The bill is illegal
by girish s on Mar 06, 2007 08:21 PM  Permalink

The reservation bill approving of caste based quota is illegal and infringes right to equality. The court should strictly stand by the constitution and stay the notification. If the govt fails to respond tommorow it should declare the bill as null and void and punish the cabinet minister for wasting public money and undermining the constitution.

Reservation policy...
by Rangasamy Vijay on Mar 06, 2007 05:19 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It looks as if, the policy of the present govt. is based on vengence against forward community. The policy of the government should be for the economically weaker sections of the pouplation irrespective of the caste/creed/community/religion. My suggestion would be like this...
1.Make primary & secondary schooling compulsory for kids. All free education, if below certain economic scle. Welfare & social organizations can go one step ahead with free mid day meals, books & clothes for poor kids (all tax exempt). All poor OBC/dalits/ minority religion people poor forward community people will be automatically benifited.

2.Improve public school image- the above benifits will be extended only to public school.

3.College education is based on merit only- again subsidized/free fees, meals, etc. etc. for poorer sections.
4. No reservation for employment- based on merit ony.
Where is the room for complaint by any section of the community? If we follow the above I am sure in course of time all the present day policians will have to pack up as they can never harbour on the same issue, decieving the poor. In a democracy no body has a right claim a reward if they under perform in spite of opportunities.

well put.
Reservation should be based solely on economic criteria. There too, the persons who are benefiting from reservation should pay back society for such help.

For example, Doctors who are benefitted by reservations haould serve in rural areas for a certain period of time. Similar work could be thought of for other professions.

ant story
by on Mar 06, 2007 05:12 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

OLD VERSION...

The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer
long building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.
The grasshopper thinks the ant's a fool and laughs & dances
& plays the summer away.
Come winter, the ant is warm and well fed.
The grasshopper has no food or shelter so
he dies out in the cold.

MODERN VERSION (excellent)

The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer
long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.
The grasshopper thinks the ant's a fool and laughs & dances & plays the summer away. Come winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while others are cold and starving.

NDTV, BBC, CNN show up to provide pictures of the
shivering grasshopper next to a video of the ant in his comfortable
Home with a table filled with food.

The World is stunned by the sharp contrast. How can
this be that this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so?

Arundhati Roy stages a demonstration in front of the ant's house.
Medha Patkar goes on a fast along with other grasshoppers
demanding that grasshoppers be relocated to warmer climates during
winter. Amnesty International and Koffi Annan criticize the Indian
Government for not upholding the fundamental rights of the grasshopper.
The Internet is flooded with online petitions seeking support to the
grasshopper (many promising Heaven and Everlasting Peace for prompt
support as against the wrath of God for non-compliance). Opposition MP's
stage a walkout.Left parties call for "Bharat Bandh" in West Bengal and
Kerala demanding a Judicial Enquiry.CPM in Kerala immediately passes a
law preventing Ants from working hard in the heat so as to bring about
equality of poverty among ants and grasshoppers.

Lalu Prasad allocates one free coach to Grasshoppers
on all Indian Railway Trains, aptly named as the 'Grasshopper Rath'.
Finally, the Judicial Committee drafts the Prevention of Terrorism
Against Grasshoppers Act [POTAGA]", with effect from the beginning of
the winter.

Arjun Singh makes Special Reservation for GrassHopper in educational
Insititutions & in Govt Services.

The ant is fined for failing to comply with POTAGA
and, having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, his home is
confiscated by the Government and handed over to the grasshopper in a
ceremony covered by NDTV.
Arundhati Roy calls it "a triumph of justice". Lalu calls it
'Socialistic Justice'. CPM calls it the 'revolutionary resurgence of the
downtrodden' Koffi Annan invites the grasshopper to address the UN
General Assembly.

Many years later...The ant has since migrated to the
US and set up a multi billion dollar company in silicon valley.
100s of grasshoppers still die of starvation despite reservation
somewhere in India ...

As a result loosing lot of hard working ants and
feeding the grasshoppers, India is still a developing
country......

I think it is a brilliant story which depicts the true status of social condition prevailing in India.
But at the same time I do think that ants should fight for their rights in their homeland.

Very soon the GOI will come up with a law to prohibit ants from migrating. After there should equal suffering for ants too as the grasshoppers!
Or may be only grasshoppers will be allowed to migrate and the cost will be borne by the ants!

The worse is yet to come.....courtesy Govt. of India....

QuatA Policy
by rajkumar grover on Mar 06, 2007 04:52 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This is the only way to distribute the sources of great India in complex caste/religion/races system/structure to make every citizen stand on there feet and truely speaking there is NO marits system are followed in all states of our country in jobs/admissions/promotion etc.only jeck/setting/money/relations/caste/religion ect. are pervailed/are required. If this is the practical system then why not we should distribute all resource on quata bases hence quata should be there in all sections in all field. It is not true on that, this will devide the nation.Caste/religion are the base of our society/country,this can not be ignore any where and even practically people are not accepting without this ,so to raise the head of all citizen mainly poor class/caste, quata should be followed, otherwise a time will come when these people will become so poor and will do all illegal activities which can not be safe for all higer class people.progress should be same on both the wheels of society to make our country progress.this is not vote bank policy,it is the only ways to give them their rights and it is their right also being a citizen of this country. These days every one knows very well where they have to cast their vote, they do not do according to this type of GOVT. steps.if this happened then why in every Gen.election vote bank of congress decreasing and vote bank of BSP increasing.Qauta is not the vote bank issues because poor people want their right by any means.

ohhh mr grover you ware so obssesed with quota system that you are posting same message with two different ID's well mr grover people like you are the one who dont think how to make nation progressive , if you really want to put quota system forward i will agree to it but not this way by just allowing OBC's and SC/ST to be given away direct quota in the premier institutions i would rather ask every one to sit for entrance exams and then those who have successfully cleared all rounds then only people from backward classes and after providing proof for their family low income they should be provided with quota of getting into institutions so that we can ensure we get good students into institutions not like many students (not all) in UP, Bihar, maharashtra, haryana where students just go to college for the sake of eave teasing and with arms around the waste so that they can create filthy environment in institutions and pass their exams on the basis of muscle and recommendation so pls stop this caste based quota and stop falling and failing our nation we are ready to support anyone financially just to make sure that they get what they deserve on the basis of quality but dont divide INDIANS on the basis of caste and STOP BEING RACIST, this is another form of racism

Quotas are further dividing society. If the intension of the Govt is to stop division on caste lines, then all reservation should be based solely on economic condition. The Govt should remove the column of cast in all its transactions and all the pleathora of forms that we fill in during our life time.

There are sufficient poor in the "foward"communities.
