Temple Entry
by seshadri santhanam on Jun 07, 2007 09:44 AM  Permalink

Why dont people think of the yeoman service rendered by Saint Ramanuja when as a boy he took teachings from Kanchipurna(a Dalit) who new nothing other than chanting Lord Varadaraja. Why doesn't Vayalar Ravi give up going to these kinds of temples and go on a pilgrimage to those temples where there are no restrictions for human beings. Even today there has been a change in the mindset amongst the temple authorities of Tirupathi where the Utsavamoorthy has come down to visit a Dalit Hamlet nearby Tirupati. To downgrade totally Hindu faith is wrong among you so called Secularist. It is because of Hinduisam that there is a way of life. Whether you a practising Hindu or not that doesn't matter.

Even raising the collar I can say it is because of a toleranmce in the Hindu society that there is a Democratic way in our country.
Hinduism is a experiment. It is not confined to a codified structure. Each Hindu has his/her own way of life.

i think anyone who believes in God should be allowed into temples..Christians, Muslims, Hindus and other religions all believe in the same God, only , they call it by different names ie Brahman, Allah, God etc..so as long as one believes in God, one should be allowed..thats my simple Logic..

by alchemybrown on Jun 07, 2007 09:40 AM  Permalink

dear prem

There are lot many things bigger than temples masjids gurud & churches,

That is humanity -

irrespective fo the religion law is more important
right to live in a justified & crime free society.

Bring a law to punish the culprits at the earliest especially the leaders like lalu, maya, jaya, and so on.

brign a law to conclude the million of cases pending in the so called justice office where normally no one gets justice.

Seems u r ignoring the facts of indian society and trying to play with emotions of the people - pls dont talk like politicans 7 missguide indians.

Masjid & Church?
by Jeya Shree on Jun 07, 2007 09:40 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Dear friends,

People always talk about temple and hinuim. Can any one talk about other religion. It is not possible becasue they will get punishement. where as Hindus, you can discuss and talk to any long. This the freedom with Hinduim. Please never realize now. You can not expect this kind of freedom in any religion.

Firstly, ANYONE CAN ENTER A CHURCH..the only restrictions are placed in mosques and temples..now hindus shouldnt restrict temples JUST BECAUSE muslims are doing it with mosques..i think its a sin to forbid some1 to enter a place of worship, cuz a place of worship is a place where some1 comes to reconnect with God, no matter which religion u are from

Fools, churchs and masjids allow all without any restrictions. Only in temples they have this type of restrictions. Hindu fundamentalists change your mentality. Treat everyone equally.

see what he is saying.
I can tell about Masjid that they have NO restriction for anybody.

however I respect temples' right to deny entry to anybody according to some clear criterion.

Tantri is an Intellectual giant
by Chris on Jun 07, 2007 09:40 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The Tantri has clarified everything so well. Let all these Christians who wish to enter Guruvayoor, go and get a certificate from Arya Samaj Kozhikode saying that they are devotees and believe in idol worship. That will be the day!

Let Hindus have their beliefs and rules and rituals. The others have no business to pontificate on what Hindus should or should not do. Incidentally, in Guruvayoor, all men can enter only when they wear a veshti and an Uttariyam as it is called in Tamil. It was nice to find a temple that has a strict dress code. If there is a dress code for clubs why not for temples which are sacred to Hindus.

What kind of religion is he following by disrepecting people and their emotions.
A couple come to the temple show the faith on what he has been believing and working and not to reduce the faith. And he turns them down.
It is like I open a society to provide drinking water to travellers and when one thristy traveller comes, I dont serve him by some reason or other.
These people have just making show offs to get more donation and earn more money and power. First rule of religion is to Repect and love people.

Entry of all believers in Hindu temples
by Rajinder Katoch on Jun 07, 2007 09:37 AM  Permalink

Hindus of all castes should be allowed into the temples. With regard to the temple priest and pooja method, even you Mr. Prem Panicker are no one to question that inspite you being in print media. Obviously, temple is not a picnic spot where even foreigners are allowed (side effect globalization).

If any Hindus is ill-treated then temple management should be informed and infront of the local police, person should be allowed to use his right as a worshipper. Priest can only acquire respect if they behave in that manner, less of management and more of kindness. I encountered similar problem in Vinayak temple in Delhi run by priests from south india. One day I just touch one of the diety and priest shouted on me. I replied back and priest was quiet. But later on, when I introspected I found I was wrong, because god is within and touching an idol can offer a time-limited happiness. Moreover, if everyone start touhcing idols, there is a danger to idols, the soul of our temples. Born a christian, Yesudass has participated in many Hindus festivals. Such people should be encouraged though it is contrary to my first statement that only Hindus should be allowed. His forefathers were Hindus only.

Mailigning his very heritage, i.e. his forefathers whose honor and tradition he is trying to uphold.

When he ends the interview with
"Until then, I can only do as my tradition, my religion, the code of this temple, tells me to do -- and that is all I have in fact done."

What do we have to say to a man who has tried to live his life honourably?

I think that this is a very clear example of what is being done in India by Sonia and the Congress/leftists.

This is to destroy the last bastions of Sanatan Dharma by belittling, demeaning and eliminating the people who do the rituals so that there will be nobody who will do them right or be duty bound to do them correctly.

I am afraid that there is not a lot of time for being unconcerned or uninvovled. This starts at the local level and all those who feel about this need to shed their inactivity and get involved.

Read the posts below as to how they try to tar the tolerant Hindu faith by using
a. Caste
b. meat eating/alcohol use
c. regionalism
d. wealth
or e. as mentioned below labeling pride in one's faith or Hindutva as "radicalism".

I express my humble appreciation to Chennas Raman Namboodiripad.
May Lord Krishna protect you and your family and give you the courage to withstand these ASURAS
