Entry of all believers in Hindu temples
by Rajinder Katoch on Jun 07, 2007 09:37 AM

Hindus of all castes should be allowed into the temples. With regard to the temple priest and pooja method, even you Mr. Prem Panicker are no one to question that inspite you being in print media. Obviously, temple is not a picnic spot where even foreigners are allowed (side effect globalization).

If any Hindus is ill-treated then temple management should be informed and infront of the local police, person should be allowed to use his right as a worshipper. Priest can only acquire respect if they behave in that manner, less of management and more of kindness. I encountered similar problem in Vinayak temple in Delhi run by priests from south india. One day I just touch one of the diety and priest shouted on me. I replied back and priest was quiet. But later on, when I introspected I found I was wrong, because god is within and touching an idol can offer a time-limited happiness. Moreover, if everyone start touhcing idols, there is a danger to idols, the soul of our temples. Born a christian, Yesudass has participated in many Hindus festivals. Such people should be encouraged though it is contrary to my first statement that only Hindus should be allowed. His forefathers were Hindus only.
