Pround of IAF pilots but Indian govt should take care of them
by Ashwini Chakor on Jul 27, 2007 01:21 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Guys please read the following, if they are going through some sever family problems then they should get release from IAF, they are working irrespective of there wish because they are bonded labour, Indian Govt should change these policies, we are still carrying all these policies which are forced on us by British.

A BBC investigation has revealed that at least 200 Indian Air Force (IAF) pilots have indicated they want to leave the service but they are not being allowed to quit. The IAF said in response that premature retirement cases were decided only after proper scrutiny.

A BBC statement based on the report quoted the unnamed pilots as saying that poor working and living conditions and the difficulty of living away from their families had prompted their decisions. But they say the IAF was not allowing them to quit their jobs.

The BBC statement said many serving pilots who spoke to the radio in different parts of India said they were no longer motivated to carry on in service while being separated from their families.

They said deteriorating service conditions and a culture of "sycophancy being promoted by senior officers" was making it difficult for them to work. They said the situation was aggravated by the authorities' refusal to allow them to quit.

Figures obtained by BBC show that between 2002 and 2004 263 pilots were allowed by the IAF to seek premature retirement. However, in 2005 only eight pilots were allowed to leave.

BBC said it had seen class

by JKIndian on Jul 25, 2007 12:39 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Need of today is to Join Indian defence services, they r short of skilled manpower.
I am an Engineer and Joined Indian Army on Short Service commision for 5 yrs and now work in Multinational overseas. I feel my stint with Army shaped my life in positive way.
We should and we can serve Defence services for atleast 5yrs, I think it should be made mandatory. I being a Kashmiri Hindu always wanted to be in ARMY to defeat terrorists, I got atleast some taste of it.

@JKIndian....

Serious questions for you...hope you can answer them.

My younger brother was interested in joining the army as a Mechanical Engineer.....he went through the various rounds of interviews....and finally there was this camp in Varanasi. At the camp, they graded all the performers into A, B & C grades. After the grading they did away with all the 'A' & 'C' grades, my brother was in the 'A' grade. Those that were finally offered the positions in the general category were all from the 'B' grade.

My questions -
1. Is that the preferred practice in recruitment? Getting away from the 'A' graders ie.
2. When the 'A' graders enquired about the reasoning, the army just stated that they didn't think of the 'A' graders as a long term asset.....and they thought they were very likely to quit the army after a short stint. Again is this true?

I thank rediff.com for bringing this piece of news into the light.
Although our defence forces do such heroic and daring feats round the year, it never gets mentioned.

I am proud of our Armed Forces.
