I am a member of the socialist alliance. Mamdoub Habib was tortured and like Hicks has not been charged with anything conclusive that renders him a terrorist, I know him, he wouldn't hurt a fly. Tamil activists in australia have been held under ANTI-TERROR laws for providing money for tsunami aid. Anyone with understanding of Sri Lanka would know that there are issues there with regards to ethnicity and development, issues which Tamils trying to build there country post tsunami, will rightfully have issues with. Terrorist is a construct. It is a false threat created and used to manipulate good meaning people to allow them to justify the way government chooses to pursue its foreign policy interests. This is a pretty basic concept that Socialist Alliance is trying to communicate. We need a mass protest because the invasion of Iraq has caused a million deaths, this is surely the most evil treachery.

Might I add, Haneef should face a fair trial under the old laws that would be more than sufficient to pull any terrorist. The issue here is that a fair trial has been sabotaged and unnecessary freedoms sacrificed, namely by revoking Mr Haneefs visa on character grounds, which is using a law in a manner that is completely innapropriate given his pending criminal cry, and the lawyers will vouch for that.

Hanif is a terrorist because he gave his sim card. But HICKS,who was caught with AlQaeda in Afghanistan was brought back to Australia....he is not a terrorist!!!
