The financial capital can be shifted to the second capital of Maharastra i.e. Nagpur. Nagpur has all major bank braches and also a brach of RBI. Nagpur is in exactly centre of India and also safe from everything. Nagpur is well connected with Rail, Road and Airport. It is comming up with International Cargo hub. Nagpur is emerging hub for IT and other industries. Sifting Finincial capital to other cities like Hyderabad, Bangalore, Delhi, Kolkotta, etc will be a bad idea because they are already over crowded and struggling for infrastructure.

Did u forget abt the communal sensivity in Nagpur recently. No doubt Nagpur is a good city in terms of infrastructure but I think we should give a second thought on it.
Hyderabad is 1 hour away from Mumbai. Mr Naidu already earmarked an area near Hitech city for Financial district where ICICI, IRDA HSBC and other BFSIcompanies are building up large complex /campuses. It is also abt 2o km from new int'l airport and he preesent place is surrounded by all softwarec ompanies. Shift it to Hyderbad
These cities are the future sub-metro cities, if the govt. start developing them in a planned manner like Chandigarh then its a boon for India. They have the best of talent and natural resources unlike other states, just the political system need to be on track which Buddhadeb Bhattacharya, Naveen Patnaik and Nitish Kumar are doing very well

Your article starts with words like "a couple of milimeters of rain . . .".
Please note that -
1. July 26, 2005 recorded highest rain fall in more than hundred years (in fact, probably, much higher than the next highest). 2. Over last couple of years the pattern of rainfall has changed whereby it rains very heavily over a very short duration of time (something similar to a cloud-burst). If at such a time, there is high tide the rain water has no scope to escape. 3. Again, over last couple of years bodies like the MMRDA (which seem to function like fiefdoms of their bosses and which were brought in to keep corruption caused by "politicians" (the guys whom we love to hate) at bay) have been acting extremely irresponsibly when it comes to monsoon planning. 4. It is shamefully obvious that the whole purpose of such articles which appear from time to time is to trigger a clamour for making Mumbai a separate state. I would like to know from these worthies as to what are the improvements made by the Delhi as a separate state which could not have been done by Delhi as a union teritory.
While not ruling out the need for being continuously on the look out for things which need to be improved in the city, I would strongly caution against conducting a patently insincere analysis with a predecided conclusion in mind.
. . .and please for heaven's sake stop that crap of "making Singapore/Shanghai/global financial hub etc" out of Mumbai.
Lets Make india worth Living, Rains happen almost every year in mumbai and govt is just sleeping although people of mumbai face it with commendable courage. we all can collectively take little steps to make india worth living, it may not get fixed but at least you can say we tried. One step to make your lives simple is that www.indiflight.com, its a world class idea from 2 iitians with no competitor world wide to make finding cheap tickets in india very simple, Now you will not miss your 1 rs ticket. I know its not going to fix a lot of your problems but if we encourage creativity in india slowly we might
Not only mumbai, but also in whole of India we lack planning a city. 1) Yamuna is contaminated 2) Ganges is polluted 3) Krishna is also getting dried 4) In chennai, one of a clean river in 19th century, coovam, is an open drainage.
Why all these happens? We didnt plan for a proper drainage. In all these cities, the drainage lines are redirected to the rivers flowing thru the city. Earlier, there were coupious ground water. So, what they thought is that for the purpose of driniking, people can take water from well and the drainage water can be linked to river so that it ultimately joins a sea/ocean. But the times have changed. Earlier in one ground (around 2400 sqft) only one house was there and maximum of 10 people lived. There were no motors to take water from ground, only well. So the water consumtion is less. But now, there will be atlease 4 families and 20 people living in same one ground. More water consumption, less ground water and u cant use the river water as it is fully contaminated. What can u do now? Take the example of US. Bring experts from other countries on how to plan for drainage & how to clean the river? How can US manage to have good drainage without contaminating their rivers? Take their advise. Nothing wrong in that.
I saw in one of the New Channel that the rain this year is just 50% of 2005 Mumbai rain. But, the water logging in the road and drainage is same as that in 2005. Experts contribute to unplanned growth in the city. Some lake and other areas which store the rain water is now made to a concrete jungle (multi storeyed building for residential and commercial purposes). So, these places which were supposed to hold the water and protect the city cannot hold water and there is more logging compared to year 2005.
The lesson to be learned is "Growth should also be planned taking the environment into consideration".
This is not only applied for Mumbai, but also for all the cities that are growing up.
1930- a watershed year in Indian independence movement. 2007- make it a revolutionary year in the history of BOMBAY. Stop paying your road tax, property tax and income tax. Show the govt., both state and central that we can not and will not be taken for granted. Citizens of Bombay should stand up for their own rights and stop complaining. You ve the power to change so make use of that power.
Shift partially to Nagpur. This would develop Vidharbha and being in central India, the crowd will get dispersed. Mumbai can be decongested in a proper way. Nagpur is the best solution
