Unplanned Growth
by Neutral on Jul 04, 2007 10:11 AM

I saw in one of the New Channel that the rain this year is just 50% of 2005 Mumbai rain. But, the water logging in the road and drainage is same as that in 2005.
Experts contribute to unplanned growth in the city. Some lake and other areas which store the rain water is now made to a concrete jungle (multi storeyed building for residential and commercial purposes). So, these places which were supposed to hold the water and protect the city cannot hold water and there is more logging compared to year 2005.

The lesson to be learned is "Growth should also be planned taking the environment into consideration".

This is not only applied for Mumbai, but also for all the cities that are growing up.
