by Lalu Yadav on Jan 12, 2007 10:12 AM  Permalink

i think judiciary is the most corrupt department in this country....even more than politicians....everybody is talking about corrupt politicians and beurocrats....wat bout corrupt judges....???? if an officer make any wrong decision and somebody challenges it into court and if he found guilty...definitely he'll be punished.....But if a high court judge make a wrong judgement...we could only challenge that judgement in supreme court....wat about that particular corrupt high court judge...?????

Ninth Schedule: What the Supreme Court judgment means
by Krishnan PM on Jan 12, 2007 10:02 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

it means that the jokers in parliament, who have absolutely no interest in the citizens rights and duties, but are more interested in the vote banks and blindly obeying their 'overlords' now will have to tread carefully and take into account that the constitution is supreme. Mr Singhvi [congress party] - in all his righteousness on Times Now - mentioned that the elected representatives [sic!] are now at the mercy of the judiciary for interpretation. this is better than the citizens being at the mercy of the so called elected representatives - who a survey has shown to be a)corrupt as hell, b)self centred, c)unwilling to reason d)willing to obey dictats of their bosses [or 'basses'], e)willing to let down the citizens and the country for a measly profitand f)elected by all the unfair means possible in the world, for their interpretations of the constitution.

The impact of the January 11 judgment
by mohan rapheal on Jan 12, 2007 10:00 AM  Permalink

Judges are also as corrupt as politicians so it would be wrong to presume this judgement will make a difference.

Interpretation on IX Schedule ... by Amit Kapadi
by Amit Kapadi on Jan 12, 2007 09:50 AM  Permalink

India is a democratic country and its people are entitled to enjoy certain freedom. The constitutional laws should be to protect the democracy. However, our politicians, for vote bank purpose, murder the basic structure of the constitution and create bias in the society. Also, does the politicians have the capacity to interpet the laws and decide the best? The role of supreme court is to govern such laws.
The Supreme Court has no authority to interpret the operational matters such as Nuclear deal agreement, but it stands above Parliament in judicial review.

At least better
by Ajay Mishra on Jan 12, 2007 09:49 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I don't say we have completely impartial judiciary, but it is surely far better than our legislative assembly full of murders, frauds and illetrates...

I see the judgement a positive move towards a better future of india and bleaker for the present politicians.

9th schedule.
by Subramanian Padmanaban on Jan 12, 2007 09:34 AM  Permalink

Indra. You have mentioned all the harms that would be caused. Why dont u see the positives? Reservation will go in the sense everyone will have equal opportunity. If someone challenges life saving drugs compulsary licensing then it can again be challenged that unlicenced drugs can take the life of innocents which is again a violation of fundamental rights to live. Dont be so biased.

Supreme Court ruling of 11 Jan
by prasenjit kr. dutta on Jan 12, 2007 09:27 AM  Permalink

Indira Jaisingh'article is biased one because Paliament these days does not work on the basis of consience but for prty politics and they many times enact laws very much opposing the very basic common sense leave apart the constitution. There must be some restraint and Supreme Court has rightly come in between.

Good for our democracy.
