Will it matter
by find on Feb 25, 2007 10:21 PM  Permalink

Anyways per day there is a power cut being done for 7-8 hours. How much will this matter then. Please look at the bigger problem. 7-8 hours power cut a day in the suburbs of one of the biggest cities of the world like Mumbai does not make any sense to me. There has been atleast 5 hours power-cut almost from a year and none of the politicians seem to even interest in this issue. This is really a shame.

Our Minister saying our company is progressing at a ratio of 8.1 % Per annum, Agriculture, Industries, Manufactering,Sports, Entertainment each n every sector we are Progressing, spending power of our people increase, & at yhis situation we are facing domestic problem of Inflation, Powersupply
Where our hard earn money is going where this tax that tax is going where all money is flowing Y in a country like India where 75 % of Electricity bills are paid by people even though they are not getting better facilities why we are giving power supplies to Big COmpanies like Reliance or Tata why Indian govt not handling this all issues for domestic peoples

the reason is OUR POLITICIANS ARE BIG CORRUPT

Power deficit
by dsilva_p on Feb 25, 2007 08:16 PM  Permalink

Indeed a matter of great shame that even after so many years of constant erratic power supply throughout Maharashtra, there is no concerted effort being taken by any god-damn government to revive the Dabhol Power Project. One can understand if the government has to contribute every single paisa from its own pocket resulting in the delay for reviving the project due to paucity of funds. Furthermore, a golden chance forthcoming from various industrialists for reviving this project should be reason enough for the government to use its sixth sense and restart this project without any delay. Major conglomerates like Tatas, Reliance and other blue chip companies, to name a few, have been time-and-again knocking through bureaucratic channels since they understand (understood) the criticality of this situation. They are even ready to contribute from their funds, albeit they are deprived of this opportunity and put in the back-burner. So much of bureaucracy and red tapism is involved to get a nod, leave aside actual revival. I speculate that very soon there will be no takers to revive this project%u2026.and yet we put our chest out and raise our collars high to say that we are on the road to acquiring a global recognition, and day dreaming in surging past China, when actually we do not have even the least of infrastructures in the right place. The light of the day has to be seen when these basic amenities becomes a reality for the common man. No mincing of words.

Faulty Meters
by mafatlal sheth on Feb 25, 2007 08:03 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

After the take over of BSES by Reliance it has gone on looting spree, all electronic meters installed by Reliance record horribly high units where as in actual practice consumption is much less, BSES was much better than Reliance which used to pay perfect attention to customers complains. Reliance is like MTNL when we complain they send standard reply our meter is perfect and recording correct consumption so we are wrong and they are right!!!! When I complained about faulty meter they replied we tested meter and it is perfect where as meter was never taken to Laboratory for checking !!!!!!!!!!! How can they test meter without taking to Laboratory? This is nothing but fooling people. When BSES was there on complain they used to take out meter and test in Laboratory and submit report to consumers.

If someone in public interest come up with PIL and file suit against Reliance they will have to refund excess charge so far collected since take over and millions of subscribers will be benifited.

Mafatlal.

This is a good case to be taken to consumer court, by having the reliance meter tested in standard lab and producing the results in court. In this way Reliance can be penalised for faulty meter and bad service. Penalise amount could be the cost of your case mental torture you had because of this issue. Good case to be logged. This will serve as a lesson for the less consumer focussed companies. Good luck. There is no use in crying through the life and its time to teach the true power of Indian consumer to these irresponsible company.

If it is electronic meter, there is no need of testing it in laboratory. U can also check whether it is OK or not by counting the no. of pulses for one unit.

Actually, the people should be educated about the meters which are correct. It is wrong perception of the people that the meters are recording high consumption.

If earth fault is there in the wiring then also the meter will record. U can get your wiring rectified and then your energy consumption will come down.

The fact is the for years and years mechanical meters were being used by BSES. Electronic meters even detect usage if the TV is switched off by remote control but the main switch is on! Many people might not be knowing this I am sure.

There are several news channels claiming Sabse Tej. But donot have this news. i know this is not due to infrastructure but due to enhance use of power and also due to wastage of power in street lights, housing lighting etc.

The power supply situation in Maharashtra is a case of criminal neglect by the sucessive State Govt.s . How can a power surplus state become a power deficient state ? It is a shame to the people of Maharashtra.

Stop wasting the precious power
by chintaman godbole on Feb 25, 2007 07:39 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

We often see mega shows in Mumbai from film personalities, TV channels. Recently we saw a mega event of IDEA SAREGAMAPA at Shahaji Raje Krida Sankul in Mumbai.
In the programme there was lot of light effects and bright lightings. I think this is a shear wastage of power.
When many of the towns, villages and industrial units in Maharashtra are going through high power cuts, which is ultimately disturbing the daily life of many people. I want to ask whether it is wise to go for such events in the current power crisis. There are going to be more power cuts hence forth till the Monsoon starts.
I urge the sponsorers and organisers to think over it and act accordingly.

All this talk of trying to save electricity is nonsense. The engine of growth will need power and the government of Maharashtra needs to provide it. If they do not - launch a movement to throw them out and privatise the MSEB which has been torturing people outside of areas not supplied by Tatas or Reliance.

You what is the most depressing fact ? People living in rural areas particularly in remote villages are a forgotten lot. No body cares, neither the administration nor the city folks.

Very good suggestion - we should start a movement against this power wastage in this difficult period, although we the people of maharashta are to be blamed for allowing bad politics to take over our lives - we can do nothing about our errant politicians - we should atleast help ourselves by highlighting these wastages.

More often than not the event management companies bring their own generator vans. I have witnesses this during college festivals. Huge electric generators fitted in vans run behind the stage.
