Benazir was also a typical politician
by abbey K on Jan 03, 2008 04:43 AM  Permalink

When Benazir was prime minister she did not show any difference. She always kept fundametalist in good terms to retain in power. In one of the speeches she had said 'We should attack india and destroy nuclear weapons'. These words are not of a sensible leader. Insurgency in Kashmir continued when she was in the power. Herself and her husband were accused of corruption. Recent changes in her political stance was because of the fact she smelt victory in case of elections. Even when she cut a deal with Musharraf while entering in Pakistan, she convinced him to drop corruption chanrges against herself. While in exile she did not do enough for democracy in Pakistan according to me. Still I adore her for the courage she showed against all the odds for her country. May her sacrifice pay off

Benazir;s Death will not have any impact
by ali shahanshah on Dec 31, 2007 12:04 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

When you live with wolves you should be prepared to die with them.Benazir was such. She was matchless, incomparable, but did not understand the ground reality, the grass root politics of Pakistan. She was a foreigner in her own country and could not come to terms with guile of the wily sindhi/punjabi/military officers. With the education she had imbibed from the west. She was dancing with the wolves and the wolves danced away with her life. The US made her a scapegoat and and a sacrificial goat in the name of democrarcy, which the RAW you and I know very well that such things do not exist in pakistan.Who are we fooling ourselves or each other??

Benazirs rule was marked for corruption
by Sincere Citizen on Dec 31, 2007 11:05 AM  Permalink

Her rule was known for corruption and atrocities by her husband.
She also tried to keep power in her hand and did everything possible to uproot democracy.
Given a chance she would have taken all power in her hands like Musharraf so I dont think her death is setback to democracy at all.

Modi's take on Bhutto's assaniation
by Rediffis Evil on Dec 31, 2007 03:52 AM  Permalink

Kutch and Sindh as border.

There old separatist movement "Jiye Sindh".

We should play a proactive role in revival of this movement (the way we had supported Mukti Bahini )when clear unrest in Sindh against Punjabi Army and hegemony.

I do not think that Non Resident Italian can think of this.

Turmoil In Pakistan
by Pawan Hansoti on Dec 30, 2007 05:19 PM  Permalink

Just the other day, I was watching the talk show "Big Fight" on NDTV, where Indian political pundits spoke about the impact political developments in Pakistan will have on India, no one spoke about the impact of political developments in India on Pakistan.

In India they just had a fair and honest election in two states and the opposition BJP won with thumping majorities. The Pakistanis across the border are seeing all things and are well aware of the benefits and the all round developments that have accured to India and the Indian masses. They are agitated and angry with their rulers for not giving them the same level of transparency, accountability and opportunity to participate in the governence of the country as in India. This is the main resons for all the turmoil that we are seeing in Pakistan today.

It's not the terrorists, it's the Globalists. Wake up!!
by Raj Rag on Dec 30, 2007 01:39 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

When you hear 'Al Quaeda', simply substitute Global imperialists (New World Order)- the secret power running the US and most of the western world. All the names of terrorist organizations are just a distraction. They may be carrying it out like low-paid mercenaries but the people who are calling the shots from behind the scenes are the Globalists! They may recruit them in the name of religion. But it is for their own agenda - a one world government! Wake up - question who would benefit from 9/11 or Ms. Bhutto assasination. Don't just fall prey to mainstream media's drivel!

What is India waiting for..?
by S on Dec 30, 2007 05:11 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This country won't improve until Musharaf is there and if terrorists gain control on their nuclear weapons, it will be disaster to India as India will be first target for this maniacs.

India should disarm Pakistan's nuclear arsenal, if not these Jihadis will use against India.

Its not that the powers in india did not think of that option. Factually, it seems the govt does not know where the weapons are and also the political will to face the possible international outcry although eventually everyone in the world will be happy over it

agenda - strategic ? economic?

"For the United States, lately counting on her availability to protect their agenda in Pakistan, the loss is irreplaceable."
-- A K Verma

In this era of congruent policies do they automatically become India's agenda as well?

The defence of Pakistan is basically defence of its original Constitution which also serves as its economic engine. It is the most potent safeguard against any misadventure by Pakistani establishment against India.

It is for US to make their policies congruent to this subcontinental need. Nahin to....!

So far US has been able to strategically arrive at a 'Heads I win, Tails you lose'. But now the risks to India are far too high. It would be now win-win or lose-lose situation only.

It is most unlikely that Indian leadership led by Mr. Singh will compromise its intellectual integrity by letting down those lawyers and Muslim League who root for restoring their guardians of Constitution who were sumarily swept aside. It sure would be his utmost priority and his patience need not be construed as weakness by Occidental minds.

Having said what probably needed to find an expression, time to cut short and fade away.

Cutting Short
-----------------------------------------
To speak good words is not easy,
You got to dwell on those long deeds;
But in a short while
Gushes wordy vile;
Spewing bad blood in great style!

Life turns as usual.
by Vasanth Srinivas on Dec 30, 2007 12:51 AM  Permalink

Benazir may be remembered a month or two. Her son is ready to jump into politics. Then whatz next ?
He will be polarizing the Porks mind further as his mom and grandfather. As usual vote banks based on Kashmir issue.
If he stays alive, then he will lead the country next.
One more Kargil will come to divert the porks attention.
Bhutto's assassination will not create any change in their ideology and mindset.
