Muslim infighting- Good for rest of the world
by Srinivasan on Dec 27, 2007 10:53 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

When Iran and Iraq were fighting, the rest of the world was in peace. When that stopped muslims started targeting other places. Now if infighting starts in Pakistan I think we in India can live safe.

It is not clear whether your are:
a. James Bond - Man with the Golden Gun
b. Chinese wonk - Golden Yellow
c. Amaar Sonaar Bangla type Golden
d. Just tinsel glittering gold
e. Golden Temple sanctified gold
f. Just and Golden hearted gold.

If you are grade F think in the "hum kisi say kum nahin.." mode, if you do not quite cut that grade, chalega!

by apjunkmail on Dec 27, 2007 10:07 PM  Permalink

Pakistan NEEDS to give back Waziristan region back to Afghanistan as they should have after Durand line 100 year treaty expired in 1990s (like Hong Kong went back to china).
This will eliminate the excuse mushraf uses to why pak military cannot go there (autonomous region) and NATO cannot come into (Pakistan territory). Pakistan grabbed this land after treaty expired and called it a autonomous region . It needs to give it back as it should have in the first place. Then NATO can go in and clean the place out, local pashtuns will like that too.

Benazir is an immatured politician and is not capable of ruling a country like Pakistan.
Never has she done anything to be looked upon kindly by Indians knowing her actions.
She was a beutiful Young girl when she visted INdia with her father to sign shimla agreement..
That's all

But it does not warrant her killing like this! Hope Musharraf opens his eyes atleast now and stops funding the terrorists - He created a Frankinstein's Monster to trouble India and it's now harming Pakistan more!

Incidentally Bhutto happened to be the first person to encourage Terrorism against India and it's sad it took her own life!

Anti-Bhutto army factions behind murder?
by Ashok Thomas on Dec 27, 2007 10:00 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

My heart goes out to the people of pakistan and the bhutto family. One thing seems to be clear-Musharrff is directly or indirectly responsible for this gruesome murder.this is the beginning of a people's movement which will culminate in the overthrowing of president Musharraff. Only a stable government in Pakistan can provide security to the region and help india sleep in peace.

No need to sob so bitterly, Mr.Thomas. Her bad karma finally caught up with her. Remember 1989-90 when she was the PM and terrorism in Kashmir started. She used ISI, jihadis and the Pakistani state apparatus to create terror in India. She got she what she deserved. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

How does Raman know this?
by Desi on Dec 27, 2007 09:51 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

How does Raman know this just 12 hours after her murder?
The whole world know Al Qaeda and her ilk killed her. But Raman sitting in his drawing room or wherever in India is able to point to 'Zia-ul Haq loyalists, junior members of the Pakistan army and, possibly, the Pakistan air force'.
If this is indeed true, then a retired RAW officer has as much and more access to information than a RAW official and our secret service RAW is fantastic and the best agency in the world because it has pieced together the people who killed Benazir just 12 hours after her death and not even being able to inspect the forensic evidence!!
Never mind that they cannot locate Dawood Ibrahim!

Mr. Raman's analysis is based on media reports and piecing information available in the public domain as well as years of experience of having served in the Cabinet Secretariat. The analysis may be correct or wrong. You need to read his papers titled International Terrorism Monitor in SAAG.org.

One needs to be wary of your subtle approach; is it merely cynicism or a crafted and planted confusion?

With continued exposure Indian blog readers are also getting more and more sophisticated and can figure out which is which. They do have their basis for reliability criterion.

.................
Reliability criterion
----------------------------------------------
Space and time have no events
Nor matter worth words.
Thoughts explore the probabilities,
Has no realistic discernment.

May be some one has put some sense
In these crunched patterns
Evoking persuasive responses beyond reason.
May be not.

HAHAHA! I really liked your post.
'merely cynicism or a crafted and planted confusion'
You should be working in RAW for your powers of analysis!!

My point was to the fact that Raman pointed to three distinct entities
'Zia-ul Haq loyalists, junior members of the Pakistan army and, possibly, the Pakistan air force'
He is basing this analysis on? If our intelligence set up is so good that Raman can pinpoint to or atleast point to entities he thinks are responsible within a few hours without even examining the crime scene, why can't our intelligence figure out where Dawood is holed up? His address?

Desi,

The address is known and it has also been published in Times Of India earlier. Question is how can the State of Pakistan reach him legally and detain him. The extant and reach of terror is very widespread. They will simply eliminate the officers and the families in Pakistan who will seek to arrest.

The matter is not as simple in a civil democracy as it appears. I remember in 1970's a custom officer was stabbed in broad daylight on his chair just because he was sincerely duty bound.

It took many years of political work to create the secured and secular ambience where lawful work could be done safely.

Desi,

You to got to understand that the mettle of Indian officers is of very high order and they have clarity on the inter-play of real forces. Learn to respect their education and when you oppose it better be to point by point and with the intent of being constructive.

Thanks off side for taking the time out to reflect on my post!
I respect his education and his analysis. I have been reading his columns for a long time. But these conclusions he is giving seem too fantastic considering the time line!
Granted he has back channel access and his own contacts to feed him but before the Pakis can give a formal statement (which will be lies anyway), does Raman need to point to three different entites that were never previously on the radar?
