Guns & Sunil Dutt
by Vijay Patil on Aug 07, 2007 04:10 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

250 years ago- Ordinary british citizens arrived on our coast in ships and armed to the teeth. they had gun powder and guns. No licence and no royality to the Monarchy. Even after independence for the last 50 years we cannot keep guns, without the Governments approval. We do not have the liberty to save our near and dear ones from others and the state machinary. We have to suffer all injustice done to us like cattle. What is absolutely legal in most of the nations becomes a crime in India. In USA Sanjay Dutt could keep a dozen guns without anyone having any interest in them, but in India where technically we are free but in reality we are slaves of the system, owned and controlled by our corrupt politicians. Only the ownership has changed, we are still slaves and second rate citizens of this planet.

USA is going through a big problem where the gun culture has spread even to schools. We are from a country which talks about loving neighbours and we stamd for peace. Let us not copy some evil things of western socities esp gun culture.

In India, gun/knife is not protecting any one. It is the strong belief we have in Karma and belief in adage that "What you sow is what you get". Whatever it is Sanjay Dutt is guilty for violating law and he deserves no special sympathy. Let us come out of this cattle mentality of idiolising cine personalities.

A problem in Delhi & North India is, there are guns all over the place. Anyone who wants to can buy one. There are gun making factories in every Kilometre in UP & Haryana, about half the density in Eastern Bihar.

Needless to say that those who want tese illegally made guns are criminals, or student politicos. Or just about every house in Western UP & Eastern Haryana has an illegally acquired gun. Crime rate is quite high. Police is ineffectual, though the score of Delhi Police is quite high. Almost all major gangsters who turn to Delhi are turned into corpses but this could be because a rival Political party was in power. However, police is ineffectual where first timers commit & Road rage a road-rage case occurs (Which is everyday).

Isnt it prudent that licences are given to all who apply for them? Atleast the average educated citizen, who is usually at the receiving end of the crime can defend himself/herself against it?

Dude! One more thing I forgot the mention. If he had guns and was in close contact with the conspirators that means he knew about the whole scheme!....Damn! ..And he dint report it to the cops?!!...Thats an even bigger crime!.just 6 years he got?!!...he should have been given Life!....or even Death!...(Off the topic:This is one situation where life and death mean the same!)

Your post makes no sense whatsoever. anyone is allowed to keep weapons in India as long as they are licensed and approved by the government of India. the charge against him was illegal possession of fire arms. On the top of that, he procured them from shady underworld people associated with the boombay blasts. If this is not a crime, what is? Please read your news more carefully.

Dude if there is a Gun in every house in India. Then the whole country will be inside the prison. Self defense my foot!...Whats the law there for?...For defense he should have ordered and payed for a Level 3 or Level 2 security or even Level 1 which is mostly offered only to the president.

Very bad view vijay patil !!!!

You want to bring gun cluture to india.

I am damn sure that most of indian parents teach / taught about values of life , peace, etc. unlike westeners who are single parents with very little time to spend on their children.
If with all these politicins & islamic terrorists if our country survives it is because only we are basically peace loving country.

As these are all basic necessities for this Gandhian gangster, I request the Government to provide him with these.

Use Sanjay Dutt for JAIL Benefit
by Raj on Aug 06, 2007 11:51 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Treat Sanjay Like the British Treated Balraj Sahni ... Better for All.

In the 1940s Balraj Sahni was arrested for his communist party connections, he found himself on the wrong side of the law for promoting his party's work, Sahni used to report on the sets of K Asif's Hulchul under police escort and would go back to jail after the day's shooting.

Similarly Sanjay should be allowed to work for the movies and the fees payable for his work should be deposited by the producers directly with the court... At the end 50% 0r 75% fees should be taken for jail reforms and balance paid to Sanjay ... I am certain Sanjay will happily give away even 90% of his earning thus made.

What sense it makes, asking him to do gardening or farming or tailoring, when he can earn Crores for the Jail ... it will be beneficial to the Jail / courts and to Sanjay.

Special circumstances require extra-ordinary solutions.... besides there is a precedent in India of the court having allowed Balraj Sahni, to continue working for films and remaining in jail for the night.

Sorry, I couldn't agree with you. If your suggestions are followed, then certain people can sell of the nation, rape, murder and then instead of suffering in jail, would do what you suggested. I am not against Dutt, i am his fan, but still believe in keeping nation's interest ahead of individual interests.

What is contempt of court?
by Ramesh Kapoor on Aug 06, 2007 08:50 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Could it be taking matters for discussion or otherwise while a trial goes on, is contempt of court? How about matters which have been adjudicated and verdict given, should such matters still be considered as sub judice, and hence no discussion? I am no lawyer, except that, during the course of my service life, I had occasions to act within the ambit of legal jurisprudence. It is a good gambit to threaten ordinary citizens with "contempt of court" to curb any discussion on the subject. There have been a number of cases where the verdict has been acquital because of reasonable doubt, while the persons concerned may have been guilty and vice versa. Mr. Ujjwal Nikam should thank God, that his mamoth task of prosecuting 100 people in TADA court is over. Whether or not the Court acted within the precincts of laws of natural justice is a matter of law students to consider in their pursuit of an LLB degree. To me, what Mr. Nikam states is just to create fear in ordinary citizens.

Ordinary citizens are no way connected with this and Mr. Nikam rightly stated that if you have difference of opinion, there is forum to state that and not making signature campaigns and other non sense. Sanjya Dutt is a criminal and by acting a perticular role in a film does not absolve him from the criminal acts.Apart from keeping guns there are many occassions of his criminal actions using drugs and the tapes of his conversations with criminals and many more. Court has sentenced a criminal for his criminal for his criminal acts and where is the question of ordinary citizens being affeted?

Regarding the Order of the court whether it is right or wrong to be decided by LLB students is utterly wrong and misunderstanding of the subject. Please refrain from making such unnecessary statements
