Apathy of media is to blame as well
by Vinod Nair on Aug 02, 2007 01:18 AM  Permalink

The viewer ratings hungry media and so called human rights activists accord media time and human rights respectively, only to terrorists and in trying to prove the innocence of terrorists. Soldiers and victims of terrorism according to these folks need neither - what an irony !!!!

RE:Indian Politicians - Unimaginably dirty creatures
by Pat Thakur on Aug 01, 2007 08:21 PM  Permalink
Well, they could have called in some Shit Glamour Gals or invited some Sick Social Glitterati to the funeral. That would have made the difference & the Media/ Politicians would have latched on to this event.
After all, that's what they want nowadays. Who cares for obscure soldiers dying in some unwarranted corner of the world? They are not going to fetch vote - banks, are they?

Shame on the state government
by vg on Aug 01, 2007 07:33 PM  Permalink

It is a insult to all the people of karnataka that soldiers who sacrified their lives didn't get any attention from authorities.why the hell should Haneef get all the attention like a war hero succesfully fought the war??So called Prime minister and our own HD Kumara swamy should answer this. All along i had a respect towards Kumara swamy ,but i lost it.Shame on the system

Condolences
by unni krishnan nair on Aug 01, 2007 06:27 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Who wants Col.Vasant or Thimmiah? They are just two other soldiers. They dont bring in votes. Then why should they get the limelight when the new found international celbrity Dr.Haneef is making so much news. After all soldiers die quite often. But who will get such a fine opportunity to show ones concern for a person belonging to the minority community wronged by an alien Govt.

And when you know there are no prospects of winning votes why should leaders go behind them.

Otherwise the MEA, PMO and the PM also would have found it difficult to even sleep. You cant blame them for that.

There was another case a couple of months ago of a poorman working in Afghanistan, I think Subramanian was his name. He was not even remotely connected with terrorism. He was infact kept as an hostage by Talibani terrorists. We neither saw this hyperactivity in the MEA nor the PM lose his sleep. I think the poor chap was murdered. Nobody bothered.
Why? Because he was Subramanian. Because they were Vasant and Thimmiah. AND not Haneef.

My condolence to the family of the soldiers.

Petty Politicians
by debapriya sarker on Aug 01, 2007 06:22 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It clearly shows the nature of the politicians. The went on to show their support to Haneef to appease the minority community to win their vote bank, while they did not even bother to give a word of condolence to the fallen heroes as that will not fetch them any extra vote. Under the present chief minister karnataka has slipped down from what it was so it is this petty politics that the chief minister has resorted to to staty in power. He has already given proof of his petty backgroung and rotten character by lashing out at Naidu bringing forth his mother too in a very derogatory way.

Just small correction,
What you are refering about derogatory comment against Naidu was made by YS Rajashekara reddy,AP Chief minister. Not HD Kumara swamy. But i do agree with you on the current state of afffairs in karnataka is pathtic. As a native of karnataka,i am not at all happy with that.

Dont Join Armed forces
by wajid on Aug 01, 2007 05:26 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Dont join the armed forces if you want to be recognized, its a duty as a sepoy, he shud lay his life for the nation without expectations, if you want all the crazy limelight then better join other feilds.

The army job is a self respect job, all peoples bow their head whenever they come across.

Regarding the job the necesary rules will take care. One shud not feel that this sytatement is harsh but that is true.

If everyone thinks that so and so has to give resapect, what is the difference between them, there were so many freedom fighters whose children still wait for food, had they thaought this india wud not got freedom

My sincere parayers to the family of those couragous officers, my head stands high and feel proud to be a Indian.

Dear Wajid,

Issue is not soldiers soliciting respect from others.... they wont and they are proud enough about their mother land, duty and dress. Issue is its our duty to respect them .... for the hardwork, risk they take while protecting us.
