Angreji slave Indians
by Lucky B on Apr 27, 2007 02:17 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Before 1947 we were slave to Angrej and after that to Angreji.
Every language is important and respectable because it connects one to another. But the way Angreji is imposed everywhere, and became a status symbol for Indians is wrong.
I am not against learning English but I am against the slave mentality of Angrji literate Indians.

Thats what Tamilians say..when they are asked to learn Hindi.

Its only the tamils with the slave mentality who would speak in Hindi instead of Tamil.

Kapish?

ATITHI DEVO BHAVA
by nagesh hanmantu sirsal on Apr 27, 2007 01:44 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

What a pleasent surprise for our President Kalam and even for all of us Indians from Greece president. With those Sanskrit words he really made our president feel like a GOD, (ATITHI DEVO BHAVA)!!

One request from all Indians to our president Shriman Kalam that being and representing as a first CITIZEN of India, he should know our lands own language. Its not any ROCKET SCIENCE to learn Sanskrit Shriman Kalam.

But we all know the fact that you simply cannot even speak our National tongue HINDI then how and when will you learn Sanskrit?

he may not be able to speak hindi my friend, but he has embraced Shrimad Bhagvat Gita, studied it and practices its thoughts and values. He is a true thinker and we are fortunate to have him as head of the country at this times when India is making global waves and there could be not other better person than Dr. Kalam to represent our true culture and philosophy.

Its pitty that greatest of men and women have been critisized over the ages in this country but such short sighted and midiocar thinking people.

Wake up India. Try to look at and accept the positives at least of your fellow country men if you realy want our country to prosper.

Still India not got Independence
by Anniyan on Apr 27, 2007 01:29 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Indian Hindus shuld not celebrate the national festival like Independence Day, coz still Kashmir has not got freedom from Pakistan and Islam, we don't believe India got Independence till today...and we haven't celebrated yet...

Only if Kashmir got freedom from Pakistan and Islam, and If all muslims are evacuated from whole India we will celebrate...until we will not celebrate any National (or) Hindu festival...

According to history Alexander the great's soldiers' were in the Punjab province when he gave up conquering Asia & the world. So many soldiers were tired & weak to return.Stayed back& got married to locals...& that's why majority of Punjabi's are fair with light eyes for eg:Raj Kapoor with blue eyes etc....Cheers

You are 100% right about Alexander's utter defeat at the hands of Puru (called Porus according to the Western historians) in the Battle of Vitasta (Jhelum).

Ganesh, u dont know history, Alexander was defeated and killed in the BATTLE, his body was shipped, but the greeks made a theory that he decided to go back by ship, in those days the warrriors rode by HORSES.

We dont have the proof, because unlike GREEKS who ran to ENGLAND after GREECE fell to invaders, our historians were killed and our universities burnt, hence we have to take the GREEK version as a version.

Tell me one thing, if ur in ARMY and if u tell ur captain that u will not fight because ur tired and home sick and want to go home and u will be allowed no. !!!

Alexander was beaten straight !!!

Infact this is even shown in the Hollywood Movie Alexander recently that Alexander himself said that was the toughest battle in his whole life, even though its shown in the movie that he won the battle with great difficult and loosing many men, I strongly doubt he would simply return back and died within few months on his way back after the battle with India. The problem with Indian history is, whatever the phirangis wrote, became our history which projects Indian as Conquered, Enslaved, Defeated lot. Andthe marxists did a great job at that.

Prez may be from your community.. But his mother toungue is Tamil.. And you need to understand the context.. When the ancient Greek and Indian cultures were interacting Sanskrit was alive and the most used language.. so the prz of Greece used Sanskrit just to symolize the ancient relation we have had.. think bigger guys.. come out of Koran and stoning people to death..

Exact meaning of Greek President's message
by KK Baranwal on Apr 27, 2007 12:42 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The Greek President said at the start of his speech"Rashtrapatm Mahabhaga, sur swagatam yavana dishe" It does not mean "Mr President, welcome to you" as reported by you, but exactly it means, "Mr. President, Nice/auspicious welcome in Yavan country" In all the Sanskrit classics, the Greeks were referred as 'Yavans' and Greek nation as 'Yavan Desh'. The Hindi word 'Unan', by which Greece is known in Hindi, has been derived from Sanskrit word 'Yavan'. Nothing can be a greater testimony to the ancient Indo-Greek relationship than the Unani system of medicine, prevalent in India, having named after Greece. This system of medicine is well recognised by Govt. of India and has it's independent Medical Colleges and practitioners.

Hi, I hope that you read this message. The correction was made by us within minutes of the transmission of the story but the news portal, you have seen might have not just carried it. There is no reason why one should make such a castiest remark about being a Kashmiri pundit. Life means learning. Please in future while making such comments, think that you may not be a perfectionist in all fields. thanks and regards...sumir kaul

Botched transliteration by Sumir Kaul : Decline of Pandits
by on Apr 27, 2007 12:32 PM  Permalink

The awefully incorrect transliteration of Sanskrit, spoken by the Greek President, in this story filed by Sumir Kaul, perhaps a Kasmiri Pandit, speaks volumes of the cultural and intellectual nadir that India has reached today. Wish it was just an error in reading the proof. The Greek Prez appears to have said "Rashtrapatim Mahabhaga, suswagatam yavan deshe" ("President, the blessed one, welcome to the land of Greeks").
