Avoid casteism, Beware of separatist politics
by BHIM VATS on Apr 23, 2007 06:42 PM  Permalink

These days politicians, instead of doing people welfare works, create formulae to play cheap politics. Their tact is nothing but similar to English rulers, who kept us slaves by playing divide & rule politics. The present leadership can better be called Black English people. They are doing nothing, but dividing people in the name of caste, sex, region, language, religions etc. These quotas are just creating harm to the union and if the things continue,India is on a verge of another slavery. The people should be beware of this cheap politics.

A befitting reply to these nincompoops
by Ritesh on Apr 23, 2007 06:41 PM  Permalink

Supreme Court has given a befitting reply to this shameless govt!
They were hell bent on implementing quota regime despite serious doubts being raised on its efficacy as a tool for social upliftment and the real beneficiaries of the program. With an Eye on UP polls, congress was adamant in implementing it this year only.

First of all distinction has to be made between OBCs and dalits. We should not club dalits with OBCs. These are dalits who have been exploited and ostracized for centuries. Many of the castes in OBCs themselves perpetrated these crimes. So argument that OBCs where suppressed for centuries should be accepted with pinch of salt. It might be true for some but surely not for all.

Time and again, pro-reservationists have cited example of TN as a success model. It needs to be highlighted that TN OBC list doesnot represent only genuine OBCs. For political reasons this list kept on growing and growing. So in a state where 85% of the population are listed as OBCs, something is wrong!! Performance comparison between OBCs and forward class in this scenario is definitely illogical and flawed.

Good Justice.
by techietone on Apr 23, 2007 06:41 PM  Permalink

This is a good justice done by the Hon' SC.

Govt of India is trying to fill its vote bank by suppressing the common people of India. They are creating a divide among Indian citizens based on religion.

If ever they want to uplift weaker sections of society, why cant they bring good policies for the poor, instead of repeatingly giving benefit to the reserved categories, who have been enjoying the benefit of Quota system for generations.

Goverment's polcies are not for the benefit of the needy people, they are completely driven by political interests.

THE LAST POST
by on Apr 23, 2007 06:41 PM  Permalink

The supreme court has honrably donned itself with the mantle of "The LAST POST" . Like in any war , the S C is well aware that if it does not hold up the issue in favour of the greater good , then all hell could break loose .

The upper castes , having lost it all to reservation would have only two choices - give up on this country and emigrate to a better environment or FIGHT BACK and RECLAIM what rightfully belongs to every Indian irrespective of caste . Enough have the current upper castes suffered for the "so called" follies of their peers. Enuf is Enuf.

Regarding the Supreme Court verdict on OBC issue.
by vrao on Apr 23, 2007 06:39 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

At least this time supreme court judges done a good thing that they have moved OBC reservation issue to one more year. Now every country is giving importance to merit (like America, Japan, China, England & other countries) but unfortunately in India after 60 years of independence still we are following reservations & OBC issue means India cannot compete with developed countries like America, Japan, China and other countries. Once then priminister of India Jawahar Lal Nehru told in his book - "you give all facilities like boarding, loding and free rducation to backward classes but while giving an appointmentto them please consider his merit, othewise country should be second grade country. Now you analyse what is our grade of country. Beacase of due to some politisians vested interest OBC issue and other related issues are coming in our country. Even after 150 years also our India cannot come to America level.

Why are you against reservation policy. It is best in the vested interests of the indian nation. Imagine if all the doctors in the country were undeserving. Population growth will stagnate. GDP will continue to grow for some time, because of the robust services sector, where the exact skill set required is not that good. Besides netas like arjun singh, sonia gandhi may also perish due to good works of these docs and hence, we may see a much better india by 2025.

SC declines to vacate stay on OBC quota
by prema gurudutt kamath on Apr 23, 2007 06:38 PM  Permalink

The concerned ministry has made very poor home work in this matter and dealt accordingly and suitably by the apex court of the country. I think, this judgement and failure on the part of the central government of the day, makes a beginning of the end for the UPA led central government.

SC verdict good but....
by ashwani sharma on Apr 23, 2007 06:36 PM  Permalink

Supreame Court is doing what government should do.SC needs to be patted. However SC constituents should examin how to set their own houses in order. There is so much of lethargy, inefficiency in legal arena besides being very less in numbers compared to the total requirements of various legal officials.

I think time has come for LEGAL FRATERNITY to have a serious look on its performance and devise methods the results of which can be directly perceived by masses.

Strange SC policy
by amit mishra on Apr 23, 2007 06:35 PM  Permalink

SC should let the Government do its work. If it had allowed Congress to proceed we would have been living in peace. Just like TN, we would have had 96% reserved seats. This way we would have stopped all so called upper castes from basic education. besides, this will also solve the problem of reservation in private jobs. As only 4% of the output from professional colleges would be general students, private companies would be forced to recruit from reserved students only.
Infact the same should now be applicable for primary education. we should make a rule that only 5% of school's students can be general category. This way Arjun singh can increase the illiteracy rate among the general students and then his son can ask for their votes telling that he will reduce the reservation rate to 90% and hence offer higher number of seats to the illiterates.
By the way, Arjun Singh must have thought of reserving seats at IIM's for illiterates as well. That would have provided further career opportunities to illiterates who dint want to study in their childhood and are now unfairly at a disadvantage to those children, who studied hard through their childhood
