There is nothing wrong with Tamil Nadu...Srilankans aren't whites either, their women aren't all chaste either...A lankan king famously captured a chaste woman in the treta yuga...
Nobody needs to hit anybody with chappals unless its a woman protecting her chastity...Tamils have excellent IQ, the best in the country...They are brilliant artists...
Maybe the lankans didn't treat them properly, thats partly why they are fighting in Srilanka...
Nobody is a brahmin by birth and nobody needs to get any reservation...
Don't bother about Bharat Varsha...It is better off without people like you...

Redundant in TN
by Arun Govindan on Apr 06, 2007 12:33 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This law is redundant and just another one of gimmick from MK to keep his minority govt running without any threats from PMK and Congress.
Even though I don't know for sure, I have never come across Forward Caste people among Muslims and Christian. Can somebody throw some light on this?
Based on the assumption, Muslims and Christian enjoy the 69% reservation now. By giving a separate one for them MK adds forward caste people among Muslims and Christians into 69% reservation.
Also another doubt I have is, by constitution could any people be given reservation within reservation? That is, the MBC and BC among Muslims and Christian can enjoy both the 5% religion specific reservation 64% caste specific reservation?

I being a FC (soon my caste also will be added into MBC/BC list by one or other vote catching politician!!) wholehearted welcome the idea of reservation. Not for that there would have been a bigger gap between haves and have nots in TN. This reservation is meaningless in Cities as the kids of all castes are competitive. When you consider rural areas, it makes a big difference. Nowadays kids from the so called BC/MBC segment are doing equally well in all SSLC/HSC and degree examinations. Even 10 years back when I did my MSc in Computer Science, including me only three were from Forward caste among 28 in my class. 1st 4 slots in the open competition list were claimed by BC/MBC students.
Reservation in IITs and MITs may make some of them ultra rich. But at school and college level reservations makes them to have a better living standards enjoyed previously by rich and Forward Castes.

No one has any problem in any community coming up. Much less to Brahmins. But the TN GOVT is denying Brahmins the right to get anything anywhere. If TN wants to increase the percentage to 75% in education and jobs, then increase the seats accordingly. This way no one looses or there is no ill feeling created. If the Dravidians harp on the oppression done to them by Aryans some centuries, are the British any better. Extending the argument, Tamilians (Dravidians, I exclude the Brahmins as they are Aryans and they better be non-Tamilians!!) should hate them and not read English, as they hate Hindi / Sanskrit.

Kumar, I agree on equality for all. No one must be left behind but current situation is not equal and it needs affirmative action.

Its not just about Brahmins anymore - its much more than that. We should move towards Ecomomy based reservation but only slowly, while in the process create some level-playing field.

Kumar,
Just because industrialization makes some of the workers jobless, no sane person would be up against it (Sorry Comrades. I didn't mean to hurt your feelings). So when you take up some good cause there are some casualties even among good people. But you can't stop doing that good thing. Even Gita says this.
The reservations makes the life of Poor Brahmin's (read "poor" not all) more difficult. Same is true with poor people of my caste (Saiva pillai). But when you look at the country on the whole, this reduces the social in-equalities.
Your argument of increasing the number of seats along with the reservation makes a mockery of demand-supply paradigm. This will only cause there are more supply than the demand and only those in Forward Caste will benefit in this case. Why? Currently the top positions are held by people of forward caste whether in Govt or private sector. So even the top positions need to be normalized. The present reservation will make it within another 10-15 years. When most of the country is urbanized as wells as industrialized, the reservation will take a new dimension in the form of rural/poor people cutting across the caste and religion. Wow! Wouldn't that be great for my India!!??

a balanced view.. i agree ..
people fail to understand the benefits the FCs had for generations.. english education, social life, employment opportunities, economic opportunities etc.. vast majority of FCs have a network as well to help them out .. so overall no debate.. reservation does some social justice.

Absolutely Agree. Thanks Arun & jackson. It is heart-warming to see some thoughtful message posted.

People should come out of shell and see the real purpose of reservation; not judge by your next door neighbout Mr. John Doe alone who is from backward class yet rich. He belongs to less than 3% creamy layer. When you take rural population, backward and forward are totally unequal and there has to be justice for this apathy.

Reservation = Social Justice.

[I belong to your so-called "FC" and not saying this to secure a seat for my yet-to-be-born kid in IIT]
