Kumar, Just because industrialization makes some of the workers jobless, no sane person would be up against it (Sorry Comrades. I didn't mean to hurt your feelings). So when you take up some good cause there are some casualties even among good people. But you can't stop doing that good thing. Even Gita says this. The reservations makes the life of Poor Brahmin's (read "poor" not all) more difficult. Same is true with poor people of my caste (Saiva pillai). But when you look at the country on the whole, this reduces the social in-equalities. Your argument of increasing the number of seats along with the reservation makes a mockery of demand-supply paradigm. This will only cause there are more supply than the demand and only those in Forward Caste will benefit in this case. Why? Currently the top positions are held by people of forward caste whether in Govt or private sector. So even the top positions need to be normalized. The present reservation will make it within another 10-15 years. When most of the country is urbanized as wells as industrialized, the reservation will take a new dimension in the form of rural/poor people cutting across the caste and religion. Wow! Wouldn't that be great for my India!!??
