Musharraf will never give up his hold on the army. The day he does, he knows the end game for him will begin.
Now that he has written his autobiography - "In the Line of Fire" many in the armed forces and ISI may be thinking its time for the General to go. (I think that the blast near his home reported today is an indication of the things to come).
Every dictator knows how their rule will end. So it would be naive to expect Musharraf to handover power through any real democratic process.
Gen is a sole dectator, neither a leador nor a President. He made his position by using his army power. HE STABBED IN BACK TO HIS ELECTED PM, BY WHOM GRACE HE BECAME ARMY GEN. People of Pakistan shoul not beleive him as he is changing his stand time to time for self benifit and sefish motive. He made Pakistan a countary of terror.
Recent incedant of J&K as well as other places in india shows how weak congress government is in creating peace and law & order schuation in india by being mum on the request of seperatist party of J&K to remove death penalty of afzal to life prisonment. does india needs democracy or pakistan needs one? i think india needs one badly
Although I agree with the sentiments of the article, it is foolish not to look at historic trends. Any and every democratically elected leader in Pakistan has had his/her career cut short acrimoniously by either execution or exile. People in Pakistan and world over must come to the realization that democracy is not something that works for Pakistan. Now Musharraf is obviously biding time to put "his people" incharge of the army before he puts away his uniform so that his fate does not coincide with his predecessors; but that too is a political ploy, which even if carried out will not ensure a true democracy for Pakistan.
Musraff accepts his role in death of ur brave soldiers....and claims glory out of it and our PM makes him a partner in fight agains terrorism. Mushraff supports terrorists/murderers in Kashmir and our PM Manmohansinghji calls him man of peace
This is really good article. I always thought that people liked Mr. Prevez Musharraf a lot in Pakistan. But I think I was wrong. I want to know more about this book and his image in Pakistan's well educated man/woman's mind... I want to know how is he treated when ever a conversation comes on his in a gossip between friends...
