we dont care about animals at all, thats y lions/panthers/elephants/peacocks/ and many many like black chinkaras etc are on verge of extinct. if not done something one day earth will destroy us for destroying its other animals. nature will take revenge surely. please love animals take care of them adopt atleast 1 stray dog/cat/cow feed birds dont kill them dont kill snakes, lion(they already are few in number) please help nature love us by loving it.
They are too living being like us created by God.They have rights to live & survive. Not all persons are same. Once upon a time train was stop becoz peacocks were passing by tracks. Many truck drivers too stop when any pets come in the way. I love them i will always help them.
We have laws to protect our wildlife, but all that in books. Nothing could be executed for several reasons, one ignore of law among people, two compromise of officials when it happens. Better dissemination of information on law should be made, serious consideration should be given to execute the law. Injury caused for an animal should be treated as injury caused to a human before the eyes of law and stringent punishment should be given whomsover it may be.
Carrying chickens/hens upside down in the two wheelers are against the law, but everyday we see the scene along with the helpless or botherless traffic officials on the road. Calling SPCA or any organisation doesn't work as the culprit runaway from the scene quickly.
Animal organisations should be funded and should act vigorously to prevent the cruelty against animals.
Today is 25th of September and your discussion board opened 3days back. So far only two persons bothered to post messages. Whereas the discussion about which movies to send as Indian entry to Oscars is 453 and still counting. Does this itself not answer our attitude to animals. Yes we are absolutely uncaring to animals and of course other humans as well. I do not think any change in law is required. India has ample laws for evrything under the sun. It is only the will to implementation that remains missing. We have SPCA and such agencies. What do they do? Busying themselve, wasting time and ennergy on stupid exercise like why ahorse has been used in a movie?Just Publicity gimmick! And for Civic agencies, they only seem to make sure that the stray dogs roaming residential colonies are never taken away and remain a permanent danger to children. Oh yes, all in the name of protecting 'wild life'.
The photograph of a lady mourning the death of this elephant was very moving - it reminded me how far the rest of us (sitting in the corporate world, typing opinions) are disconnected from nature. The higher our standard of living (fancy clothes, cars, houses), the more we seem to respect animals in general and wildlife in particular. After the death of Steve Irvin in Australia, there are few left to carry on the crusades on the behalf of mute animals. We can have all the laws in place, but with nobody to implement them - its still an uncivilized society.
I was touched to see so many people attempting to rescue the gentle giant, but depressed and not surprized to see we failed the elephant, just like we fail our people, for we have little infrastructure, and practically no law-enforcement.
Do the politicians log on to read these opinions? Do the bureaucrats change or implement any new policies as a result of the lessons learnt from any mishaps?
The educated middle- and upper class believes that India needs to support its people first, and THEN, if resources permit, figure out what to do with wildlife and its habitat. We need to attend to all three simultaneously.
is that natuer will conitnue with or without us but we can not survive for very long without nature.
In a crowded country like India when people reproduce without control, be it form ignorance or willfully, then they are adding to the harm.
The bottom line is that, NO we Indians do not care about nature. As long as there is noimmediate gain for us, we will continue to try and beat the system, but unlike man made systems, this cannot be beaten, no matter how clever we think we are.
So, I anticipate that we will be paying a heavy price for this, unless the mindset changes. What we are seeing is the tip of the iceberg literally and in reality, when global warming continus unchecked.
The basic issue is are we willing to share thia planet with the rest of nature. At first glance, the Indian population does not seem to be capable or intersted in doing so. It starts with the garbage dumped into the street or your neighbours yard. Further, we pollute our water resources withiout any concern, as witnessed by the soft drink issue, shrimpfarming in Andhra, or rampant fertiliser use without controlling any runoff.
The issues abound, but the fundamental problem starts with each individual. For example, the people who leaked national secrets to USA for some measly jobs are an example of the self centerdness that abounds in this countrty. So also, the corrupt politicans, beuriocrats, even movie stars who manipulate the system, to get favors and shortcuts for their families or sycophants. When one thinks only about "how to beat the system" or being " chaalu", then the system gets destroyed, even nature.
Theporblem with nature is that it really does not care about one's puny self as demonstrated int the Tsunami, Hurricanes and other calamities.
It was vry sad to hear that female elephant was been hit by water tank at road accdient, and I just want to say that particular person should be punish for this act as one life has lost again.
Government should take some precaution regarding this kind of act as we shouldnt allow any wild life on road even as they need freedom to exist to live there on life as they belongs to be, they may earn for others but what they get when die like this.
Dear Sir, At the turn of the 19th century our country had 40,000 tigers, I do not how many elephants, rhinos, deer, antelope and snake varieties abounded our forests. We had the most fantastic wealth of wild life, what do we have now? Nothing. And, what little is left in our reserves and zoos is fast vanishing. It does not need to be said that a man looses what he does not care for. We do not care for our forests and the wealth in them. We are bound by irrevelant and obsolete notions that do not hold good. Or else why is a beast as magnificent as the elephant allowed for purposes of begging on crowded streets. Why is someone not hanged for killing as valuable an animal as the tiger? I wonder if the very question of us caring for our wild life has any relevance, because our leaders only address irrelevant subjects, like Mandirs, Masjids, songs, etc.
