Shabash,

Desh kaa naam aise hi roshan karogey. Earn this kind honours for your country abroad, come to India for a vacation, curse the conditions and the people, flash your dollars, get married, go for the honeymoon. Vacation over, go back leaving the poor girl you married, behind. Leave her some promises so she can sustain herself. Forget everything once you are gone, "Its such a small thing anyway". Repeat this routine year after year leave us proud of your achievements.

And the Indian Consulate seems to be more concerned, not with pointing out the vileness of the act and stopping it, but with advising Indians to 'watch out' for the authorities....
To me seems like the Consulate is advising the perverts to go about their business carefully as the police can be around....
Stupid CG - should be recalled...

Seven Indians held in sex sting
by Bobby M on Oct 19, 2006 05:53 AM  Permalink

I can understand the part where these men were not educated about the due legal process - and so not sign any waivers - but I don't think that ought to be the central theme of this story. Or if it is, then it is ridiculous. The point here is that left on their own in a foreign land, Indians - edicated or not - will act and behave the same way as the "shameless" americans. Bottom line - these men, indians or otherwise, should be punished for their intention to commit this hienous crime. And their family members - in this story the sister - should not be even offered a platform to try to justify why they shouldn't be punished. Maybe if she had a family member on the receiveing end, maybe she would be singing another tune - who knows?

Cultural differences
by Anonymous on Oct 19, 2006 04:16 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

In most sting operation the person arested (so called predator) is contacted by the law enforcement officers.
The person will be repeatedly bugged by the officers till he responding.
The Indian Male beeing new for this kind of communication from a Girl/Lady/Woman is confused with the openness in the conversion.

The Indian Male becomes curious as the conversation appears to be comming form a mature person, but the Law Enforcement Officer posing as a minor girl keeps claiming as a under age girl.

In most of the cases the person arrested had driven to the meeting place to find facts, and don't know that he is going to comit a crim by driving to the meeting place.

There is always a benifit of doubt on the actual intentions of the arrested person, and the arrested person's personality needs to be considered before judging.

These kind of arrests are increasing, and there should be awarness of law for this kind of sensitive issues.

Either of the Governments should start advising visiting foreign nationals about these laws.

Absolutely incorrect. Read Perverted-Justice's website. They NEVER make first contact. They NEVER initiate sex talk. They NEVER bring up meeting first.

There are hundreds of chat logs posted on Perverted Justice's website. ALL of them follow the same scenario.
Pervert contacts child
Pervert brings up sex
Pervert brings up meeting for sex

atrocious perps!
by Vatsala Vivek on Oct 19, 2006 02:17 AM  Permalink

It is a shame that Skand Tyal, the then Indian Consul General in Houston stated "I am surprised that these people, who are so smart and are here to study disciplines like computer engineering, should be so careless about this." Careless is an incorrect word in the sentence. It should be replaced with ruthless, shameless etc. etc.and on those lines. I have many words to describe this behavior. I work for children and youth and I see children who are sexually abused and HOW MUCH they suffer emotionally every day in their lives. These perps/brainless creatures (not humans) should all be deported and punished in India as well and strictly told never be anywhere near the children.
I sincerely pray and hope that these scums, if they have children, they are protected by other family members and safe in their own homes. These children will however be always at risk with these kinds of fathers in the same household.
very much angered

Small thing!!!
by Vishal on Oct 19, 2006 02:09 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is amazing how hypocritical Indians can be, no wonder it reflects in the state of our society both in India (politics, bureaucracy, society in general)and everywhere else for that matter. I wonder if the lady who thinks this is "a small thing" has spared time to comprehend what happens to a minor who has been abused. I hope the lady has kids of her own and then realizes the gravity of this crime

This is so typical - everyone seems willing to sentence these guys to Gitmo/death row without really needing to know any more legal deatails. I don't see why you have to hang your head in shame as if these were the first Indians to commit a crime. Or as if only Indians were lured by the Perverted Justice/Dateline NBC stings. There might be some level of entrapment involved here and its upto the courts to decide if the sting stayed within legal parameters or was designed to entice a crime. Also everyone is entitled to a defence, and just because these morally reprehensible guys are Indians doesn't mean they need to receive preferentially severe treatment.
