Sealing of Shops in New Delhi
by B. Rajendran on Nov 07, 2006 03:17 PM  Permalink

The very mind of Indians..including me are people who do not follow the rules. I am happy atlest the Judges in Supreme Court follow the rules and also are trying to implement the rules.

Why do the Judges do soo ? ...because our Capital city's plan has to come under international standards!! Why not the government do so ? In fact its the Government as history reveals that actually allowed many loop-holes for the traders, real estate business ..etc do begin and continue their business in a haphazard manner.
Its high time that people realize for the good of our own and for the good of our future too !!!

continuance of illegal activiites
by surendra bhargava on Nov 07, 2006 01:39 PM  Permalink

MCD/DDA and politicians allow people to use residential premises for trading activities in the hope that later these will be regularised. I am observing it in Mayur Vihar phase-3/new kondli. The shops are sold for Rs 40 lacs and registered at Rs 40,000. I sought information from DDA, under RTI Act, they said 6 moths back that action is being taken. It is only court's order that politicians have to listen, though grudginly.

Its Time for a TRUCE
by Neo on Nov 07, 2006 11:22 AM  Permalink

Contd from Last post - Time for a TRUCE
Now the Solution/TRUCE should be that the Govt and the Traders should sit alongwith the Reps frm Judiciary and Tell them the strengths and weaknesses of their cases. In other words, if the traders dont compromise, their other bad habits like tax evasion, stolen electricity etc should be put on their face.
Similarly, the govt should be made to realize that whatever has happened, they have an equal hand in it. and they still do as the corruption is still prevailing. So both sides have something or the other to be tried for. Why not fix both the ends and go for a TRUCE with a practical Solution.
I know its a long post. Hope someone understands what i mean to say.

Its time for a TRUCE

Hello All,
I think its time all the parties sit together and look for a truce. The fact of the matter is that no one (govt, traders & judiciary) are innocent in this issue.
Govt. - Where was this govt when their own officials and Babus took hefty bribes from these very own traders for keeping the business going. Whether it was a one time bribe or a regular entries to the bribe cash registers, the babus enjoyed all the money and took benefit frm the power they had.
Traders - Now, the very traders who are staging these protests on the pretext of their Rozi Roti are not innocent enough to be spared. The are equally (and i wud say more responsible) for the current situation than the Govt. A person who gives the bribe is if not more but equally responsible for the crime than the one who is taking it.
Also, consider the other ways these traders are still duping the govt. Think about TAX EVASION(service, Income, VAT etc), Think about all the power theft they indulge in. Some are actually paying as per Household energy rates while they shud be paying as per commercial rates.
Judiciary- The fault frm the Judiciary's end is only that it STILL FAILS TO SEE THE ACTUAL SITUATION.Contd

follow the chandigarh pattern. there is enough space provided in every sector for shops and malls. roads and platforms are never encroached and people are highly cooperative. as far as rehabiliation of traders concerned, the political parties who ruled delhi for the period, should shell out from their party funds to help traders. there is huge accumulation of funds over the years by various national and regional parties and no agency has been able to control them.

court sealing order
by Dr R V P Sinha on Nov 07, 2006 11:08 AM  Permalink

It is unfortunate that our national capital is facing such problems and court has to intervene to enforce the authorities to make delhi really a national capital and world class city . The judiciary is 100% correct in pulling up the govt as the Govt is handicapped in enforcing the law of the land . The pitiable condition is that every political party make a statement of every issue to suit its further cornering the vote bank and putting the national /social development in the dustbin . The present state of Delhi has occured due to neglect by the govt of the core issue of national capital and never bothering to prevent the illegal commercialisation , encroachment of roads even in private residential colony . Now a days supreme court is the torch bearer both for the govt and the public to become disciplined to solve the national problem . How can we boast of becoming the great nation without being disciplined .

why shops can not be sealed
by Jagannatha Rao on Nov 07, 2006 10:46 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is a matter of shame that unauthorized and newsense creating hawkers/ traders are taking the administration for a ride. They should thank themselves for having enjoyed it for so long, instead of crying. They have even the audacity to challenge the apex court orders. This is purely because of the political support that they get for obvious reasons. If this sets a precedence, then one can well imagine what would happen to such drives else where in the country and the efficacy of judicial authority.

MCD
by deepak on Nov 06, 2006 06:43 PM  Permalink

unless the honourable court ensures tht the senior mcd officials & minister incharge are prosecuted & their properties moveable & non moveable confiscated these bureaucrats & netas wl come out with new legislations to thwart the apex court from doing the right thing as they know that they wl get away & there is no deterrence for the future netas & bureaucrats to repeat the same corruption & crimes & the ordinary person wl get grounded between both the scrouges of our country.
appeal to apex court to start prosecution against the people who commited this crime in first place. all shopkeepers are registered which wl help in identifying the bureaucrats who did it for money & if anyshopkeeper is not registered he has no biz to be their in first place.

Mr Pradeep its also the duty of the govt to provide employment, shelter and food to every one. If these illegal shops are there from 20 -50- years its wrong, but please understand that govenment had failed right at this stage itself. Now why cry to make the city more beautiful. The only way government has contemplated to resolve the issue is by Sealing the shops and houses of the people. There is no thought on the sufferings and rehabilitation of the poeople. You are going to make lakhs of people work less and homeless and without any income. What kind of concern the govt shows for its people.
We have to abide by courts order now, fine lets do it. But there should be some rehabilitation plan for the people by govt. But unfortunatly its nothing right now. Why is PM, his govt, and his Madam silent now.
