Claude, I totally agree with you in all of your points about India....but I must say that these are only some of the problems that India faces and the reason they cannot be eliminated so very easily is because of the diversity of the country in terms of religion, region and caste......It is something India is proud of (as it should be). Being Home to people of such diverse cultures is a great achievement....but the India back in 1947 is not what it is slowly transforming into......today there are groups of people who want to establish that the country is primarily theirs and then other's.....for Instance the Hindu extremist groups claim that the country was originally theirs and the Muslims and Christians came much later from outside.....in retort the Muslim and Christian Organizations find the need to reiterate that they "own" the country too....similar stories can be found in Maharashtra where organizations like shiv sena and its cousins try to create regional differences.....As a result of all this the country is becoming more and more intolerant and is not having common interests as a result we have the wrong kind of people in power and the result are your 10 points.....What India needs today is a leader who can change the hampered mindset of these people....
India is the best place in the world, you may not like the people here, because we have almost 15 religions and languages here. Because of such a great population and so many styles of living, the people have developed hatred for each other because they cannot co-operate with each other. i have been to India, I think the country is great but the people have ruined it. If you come to the knowledge of the history of India, you'll be ashamed for what you have written. Don't you know, it has home for all Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists, Janis, and many more. So think before you write anything. And in only 60 years of independence, with such a great population along with brain drain how can a country develop so quickly? I'm afraid that some people on look at the outer beauty, not in the inner one. Did you ever notice the love Indians have for each other? I saw when one person got a railway accident, everyone nearby came for his help. I don't think that India is bad!

i dont know what history you talking about it took hundreds of years to be free from british.and i really dont know what type of brotherhood you talking about oh you mean gujrat riots or ayodhya demolition or beating north indians in mumbai. cmon u should accept what you are.things will not be changed just b'coz u says.i m also indian and i know what my country is and what was it in past. and i know u will say that 'some are bad that doesnt mean all are bad.....etc..etc.' u know what % of bad people in india in more than good people.

i am in india for already 3 months, all indians are liars, i have never met a truthful and honest indian, this is true, i don't discriminate them, but its like every single one is a cheator, and they try to cheat every dollar they can, they will not even invest to cheat! omg, stingy and untrustworthy

The country is mired by scam after scam while the perpetual corruption divert all development projects hence the class inequality, underdeveloped infrastructure, poor sanitation, unreliable state run educational institution and healthcare, etc etc..The judicial system is corrupt and you can't file a simple police case without a bribe. No, it's never the best place at all but i'd be kind enough not to say it's the worst place, but believe me we are going that way.

The thing is the amount of time you are wasting should be used to do things that will benefit your country(like the time you spent on reading this article you could have used that time to remove dirt that you see outside your house and try to clean the roads and make aware your children not to pee and shit anywhere.. Am I not right??)The amount of aggressiveness you show on this article(which may be worthless) you could have shown to those gov officers who take bribe.. is it like that you cant do that?? Yes you can.. then why waste your time please do what I said and your country would be a nice place(both physically and morally)

I m agree with u but Claude Apri is also right I m 26, I spend my life in India I spend my 3 years in Delhi, 4 in Allahabad,3 in varanasi 1 in Mumbai,3 in pune.I met types of people I faced curruption and I have seen that how currupt the politics in india, more than 70%politicians are not well educated. and many of them have crimininal cases running in court.now come on medical facilities, you know if a person have not too much money then he has to die like insect. i have seen many poor people die becouse thay dont have money for medicins. I say more than 100 things I hate about india. (Akhil)

Indian has a history of being invaded several times. First the Aryans then the Mughals, Sikhs came into existence to protect themselves from Mughals, then the Christians came in. Indian has a gory past, an unstable present with the politicians they have, and general attitude of people. And contrary to what I pray, Indian has a very harsh future, where increasing number of people will fight for countries depleting resources.
Please remember we have had around 2000 years of civilization in the region to flourish and build upon, the argument that its been only 60 year since independence is not all that powerful.
You have quoted one isolated incidence where people came to help a guy, i am sure for every one such incidence there are about 10 when people do not come to help.
