as an Indian, I get angered when retired chaps like Mr. Dhar, write about inept and corrupt politicians. it is not just the politicians but also bureaucrats like Mr. Dhar who are guilty of inaction and incompetence in addressing and solving the nation's problems. They occupy high-paying seats in the administration and keep cribbing about interference and all that. Most of it, I suspect is untrue, just to cover up their own non- performance or justsify their 'bechara' attitude. India can save tonnes of money and resources by cutting down the shameless bureaucracy to size. If all these chaps can do nothing, they have no business to be there at the country's cost. Time for Indians to look at each bureaucrat's record. Rediff, please try and stop retired government babus from using your forum to publicise their writings and show helplessness in their careers.
Yeah yeah...I hope even the most illeterate or remote located person in India could have atleast a minimum idea about all this bla..bla..bla....What matters is what people up there people whose decisions matter and people who can influence this by any means are thinking/doing???? On that note I would have really liked to see what he has done/what is supposed to be done and what problems he encountered while he was the IB director.
M K Dhar wants us to think about the geopolical class, problems in tackling the terrorism menance etc. He was the director of Intelligence Bureau and what was his achievement in wiping out terrorism? He spent all his years in the IB for which the country paid, several died during this period due to terrorist acts. Most of our bureaucrats are like that. They enjoy fruits of their jobs, do nothing effective to tackle the problems and after retirement, become wise and write about their experiences. Wonder where these ideas where when they were on their jobs. Wasnt it their duty to get the problems across to their higher ups and force them to act? Or they could have openly told Indians about who is not acting on their suggestions. After retirement, these things only show that their commercial interests in getting their memoirs/books sold.
It's frustrating to watch helplessly while Mother India is being continuously raped by a neighbourhood goon and some of her "sons" , who refuse to acknowledge her as their mother but continue to feed voraciously at her all-embracing breasts so much so that the fonts of rich milk have started bleeding. Cry, Mother India, your sons have no time to listen to your anguished cries for help! They are too busy extolling your qualities and potential to outside buyers for their petty benefits. They are too secular to acknowledge their religion and too scared to give it up! Or, may be they just want to eat their cake and have it,too! Either way, it's the nation and its hapless citizens who continue to suffer at the hand of the unscrupulous, the greedy, the ungrateful, etc.,etc. The citizens themselves are too timid,lazy and confused to do anything about. The "permanent" establishment euphemistically referred to as being permanent , have their own selfish concerns to address. What kind of politicians are we nurturing anyway?? We should first realise our fault rather than pointing out at these venomous snakes. It is the nature of a snake to bite, so why complain? Also he seems to have no clue regarding the origins of the current spate of extremism - nor of the underlying reasons for extremism in India. With people like him working for the Intelligence Bureau in India, it is not hard to imagine why the failure rate in India is at 85%. Simple word of advise to all Indians to get rid of extremism: get rid of communalism within yourselves; stop thinking of Christians, Sikhs, Muslims, Dalits as lesser human beings and this will go a long way in truly integrating the country. India is not the sole property of Brahmans.

Why don't our intelligance department protest when such interferance is taking place, by secular forces. The protest should be in such a form that Public Opinion can be generated. Once that is done, public will be with you and you will have an upper hand.

You too are equally guilty as these politicians. All the things you mentioned were ill things about how unnamed congress, cpi-m. cpm and dmk and other political parties act in order to get votes from that community. Why not say also that Modi's government is in right direction to stemp out terrorism. You don't and you can't because just as before when the government was feeding you know media is feeding you. And Modi is media's villain, since again Media gets money from Xian and Arab countries.
