caste
by ashish anand on Jul 04, 2006 04:00 AM  Permalink

there should be only ome requirement and that is to be selected on merit-all reservations in all walks of life should go. any politician who talks of reservation should be put behind bars-these politicians have made a mockery of india on the world stage-they care abt filling there own pockets and want to ensure there next election victory at all costs.
resevations violate a basic principle of right to equality=which is beyond the thinking ability of the politicians because majority of them are literate/illiterate fools.

We need an India based on merit
by Anusha on Jul 04, 2006 03:27 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I have lived most of my life in cities and that might be one of the reasons for my bewilderment about the whole issue. I never was taught in my school or at home that we belonged to the so-called upper castes and hence were privileged. Nobody in my circle cared about somebody's caste. Only when I had to fill in applications for higher education that I realized that I had to compete in the Open Category. An acquaintance of mine from a well off family who scored 20 points less than me got into a premier educational institution while I had to contend with engineering in a not so great college.
We have to become part of the solution and vow to not vote for any party that favors reservation in higher education but refuses to genuinely investigate the Pros and Cons of reservation.

For your kind information the head of Gujarat is an OBC! My my.He is so brahmin like, in his attitude towards the muslims.I do not enjoy bringing up this caste talk but the stereotyping by these brain washed brain dead people would leave no option,.
I think people with 1/2 of a neurone (perhaps atrophied neurone) who depend on caste certificate even to stand on their own legs, can not think and its wrong to expect them to think. How do you get rid of this relentless unreasonable hatred? It will only consume you.Brahmins can not be wished away and banished from the country. The only way forward is for reconciliation.United we stand and divided we fall.

Thanks to what?? Reservation.Ahh that explains the one half neuronal explaination. Thanks not to hard work not to brain cells( as they dont exist for these 1/2 a neuronal fellows)not to merit.Above any thing else thanks to reservation. This is the mentality of those brain dead caste cretificate ( some one rightly called it as toilet tissue certificate) holders, who beget children thinking and holding those caste certificates.
To every one who keeps on harping about abolition of caste, olease do understand that the government of India issues caste certificate in the name of various castes and there is a procedure involved in obtaining one,. You re Fc/OUC you will not ask for it as its useless as a used tiolet tissue. If you are SC/ST/Bc/MMBC?OBC etc you shall rever it and protect it and sanctfy it.Now tell me who is inferiro and who is asking for continuation of caste????

Get out gautier.

The writer lies that Westerners are revolted by social inequalities ! Were'nt social inequalities created by the ARYANS? Did'nt the "dalits" of france riot for their legitimate rights a few months back & the world laughed at the french. Don't the Europeans & British still practice apartheid in some form or other? Are they not westerners? How can this french man so blatantly lie like that ? Does he think we are still that dumb , as we were 300 years back. Our fore fathers believed the french and let them into the country then, but we are all now educated thanks to RESERVATION. We don't believe a word of the lies this man is trying to dish out. He says hindus are tolerant..agreed but it is the backward caste hindus only ! The brahmins & UPC hindus were the ones who destroyed the masjid & started the blood shed in India . They are the ones who murdered innocent muslim women & children in gujarat & they are the ones who still murdering & terrorising the christians on some pretext or other thanks to the gautiers. Is this India's age-old spirituality? Indians can never live in peace and brotherhood as long as they allow trouble makers like gautier to live among them.

Swadesh Swamy, your anger and hate is coming through strong...but do you think yours or others words will really change the situation in India between the different castes? All conflicts have been settled only two ways, a participatory solution, and if not by force. If all upper casted magically become good hearted, maybe the former can happen, otherwise the sequence is clear, govt imposes, some sections unhappy, protest, govt uses police force, some sections more unhappy, and escalation into low scale conflict like in many places of the world. Like in Kashmir, Telengana, North-East, Sri Lanka tamils and so on. Resulting in lack of growth as energy and money of everyone, including the govt is spent in the conflict. Unless it is possible to make a clean quick kill, which given 150 million upper caste is it possible in this day and age? What is the future of India...good question.

A prayer most apt for civil leaders (Albert Holland):

God give us men
Men whom the lust of office does not kill
Men whom the spoils of

Thamizh Kudi magan,

"A few years back when TN was ruled with a iron hand by a brahmin CM, dalits in TN were forced to drink urine & eat human faeces(shit man!)of the upper castes because they drank tea from the tumbler used by upper castes in the tea shop"

Can you give some more information regarding this incident(a link to the news item etc. )? To which caste do the above mentioned 'upper castes' belong to(the ones who committed the crime) ?

All these Thamizh's (Ppl with this name, i mean) posting here are all for reservation, which is very clear from their exagarated words, Mr..It might be true that some people in the name of Dalits were treated badly..remedy is to cause social justice, equality for all and not the RESERVATION..Understand!!! And yr 80 Yr old OBC Chief Minister Sucks, now he is a ChiefMinister God!!! Every one knows what kind of administratio DMK has gvn and is giving...corrupted administration and doing nothing for the state but gvng Communal Statements.Brahmins in TN didnot migrate because others are doing well, but thaey were made to moveout because of govt policies ( 69% reservation ).Gentleman(!), take time to understand the statistics and think practically and not emotinally, good human beings are not just in OBC's ( as u had mentioned ) and Sonia can never be PM, not because of her origin, but she is determined to duck India and Anyways its happening.Think broad Mr, dont be Narrow minded and all yrself a good humanbeing.

That is my prayer too.... let us divide the country into two.. not on a caste basis but on the basis of those who believe in caste and those who dont. Let those who believe in caste be led by the illustrious leaders like Chidambaram, VP Singh, Arjun Singh, Karunanidhi, Shankaracharyas etc. Those who do not believe in caste (they may be from any caste or religon) would be led by Ratan Tata, Narayanmurthy, Aziz Premji, Francois Gautier etc.

Liar francois !
by Thamizh Kudi Magan on Jul 04, 2006 02:38 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Francouis states that brahmins enlightened TN! When did this miracle happen? During the time sangam period?! He agrees that social justice has returned to TN but contrarily it is @ no cost at all. If at all brahmins have migrated from TN, it is only because they found out that other Tamils were getting educated & were doing better than them as scientists, software people, engineers, artists etc & most important they were better human beings too ! This fellow claims to live in Tamilnadu & says he can't see any difference between a brahmin & a dalit ! A few years back when TN was ruled with a iron hand by a brahmin CM, dalits in TN were forced to drink urine & eat human faeces(shit man!)of the upper castes because they drank tea from the tumbler used by upper castes in the tea shop. Why did'nt this french nut speak up then ? The greatest INSULT is him claiming that BC's without merit excercise huge control in schools, hospitals, universities etc. If Bc's don't have merit, how is it a BC is chief minister of TN @ 80 years for the 4th time! How is it that, that same BC CM changed the political scenario of the country by giving the powerful upper caste party, the ROYAL BOOT !!!

Dear Thamizh Kudi Magan, this is the problem in all humanity, not just Hinduism. Look even in monolithic Islam, the Shia and Sunni are having civil war over a minor turn of events in history. Every group looks with different eyes at the situation, and arguments and heated emotion from any side is not going to magically convince the other person. Do you think this century Shia/Sunni will all become totally happy and united? Do you think Protestant/Catholic in Ireland, or Jews/Muslims/Christians (even though they all believe in Jesus and Abraham) become completely happy?

I fear not..while the caste system was introduced as a occupational distinction, it solidifed to reduce mobility...now each group has contempt and hatred for other...will this magically go away from each and every person this century, or next...you must admit this possibility is very low.

Humans when faced with irreconcilable beliefs have settled things two ways, one by moving to different location, or if that is not possible, a war of annihilation. I wish it were otherwise, but you seem intelligent and you have to acknowledge this. I fear the days of India as a single nation are coming to an end.

Excellent article
by Sudha on Jul 04, 2006 02:13 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Dear Author,

I have been reading all your articles so far on this subject. They are well-written and truely speak about the plight of the 'so-called' upper castes today. Reservations on the basis of caste cannot be the ultimate solution for upliftment of the socially backward. Such policies can only be an impediment to producing quality professionals in our country. First of all, I feel, the political system needs a reform. Eligibility criteria, minimum education qualification, group discussion or open debates, background checks etc needs to be formulated for the parliamentary election candidates. Legislative can be a next step. Political reforms can definitely bring about other reforms in our society. I think, the 'vote-bank' method is not going to be a fruitful one in the long-run for any party. The thought-process will surely be one. Keep up the good work.

One of the curses for Brahmin community - 'jealousy at the success of their brothers

In other communities, people motivate the misfortunate to succeed...in our community, we try to pull the legs if someone is trying to climb the ladder if success...there is no unity in our caste and we are selfish bastards...it is an age old problem that our community faced and I see no immediate solution...they will suffer as long as they stay in their selfish cacoons

Bhagavat Gita ,the bible of the future. That's a joke. How many countries follow hinduism? and how many really know the gita? The only thing people know about hindu scriptures is that it created the caste divide & recommended "Molten Lead" for enterprising sudra people's 's ears who dared to dream of education !!! What a clown this french man is !

This fighting over symbols is going to take a dark turn. Is Bhagavad Gita the source of everything modern knowledge, and things yet to be discovered? No..but people want spiritual comfort, to get inspired by some myths or stories that they can use to model their personal life and situations....that is all. Looking more into literal meaning is not useful since these were written by men many thousands of years ago...Imagine yourself back then, values are different, environment is different, even basic life is different. So why fight over symbols? Religion has killed more men all over the world than hunger. If we feel others cannot accept our customs why force upon them..let them follow their own. If it is not possible to do so in the same country, make separate countries and concentrate on country's progress without infighting and hating others in society.

Mr.Pithan does not know what Gita is? has not read it but can comment on how many people do not know about Gita in the World. He does not believe in Gita just because majority of the world does not believe in it and not because he has read it and tried to understand it.So it means, he does not think with his own mind but he goes by what others think. If its true that majority of the world does not know about Gita then its a great pity.Majority of the people still live in ignorance and grave darkness.More pitiful is that they are proud of their ignorance.Ignorance has become the qualification.
Bhagavad Gita is like a mother of the humanity,if you can not embrace and feel the warmth then its your ill fate not that of others who trust in it.If you can not trust your own mother do not spread hatred about her.Whether you accept it or not GITA REMAINS AND IS THE MOTHER OF THIS UNIVERSE.Beware you will ruin yourself.

Mr.Gautier is doing a great job, one should admire him and the critics like you will not affect him because he believes in GITA and It will save him and give him more power to write many more articles like this,if you can change it is the best time for you.
Mohan
