Our Legal and Police system do not inspire confidence
by George on Feb 22, 2006 05:26 PM  Permalink

When I read about the manner in which the culprits in the Jessica Lal murder case managed to get away, it reiterated the fact that our Judicial and Police have lost the confidence of the people of India, as they are unable to maintain law and order. We have only our votes to change the people in power, to people with a strong desire to uphold the laws of our country.
Our country's freedom movement saved us from the British Raj, but in its place we as voters have brought back the princely state system where we regularly vote for and put into positions of power, the descendants of a political leader, making them believe they have a divine right to be above the law. I only hope education will dispel this myth from the minds of the voting masses.
I hope people with a conscience will question this judgement, or powerless people, seeking justice will be forced to resort to taking law into their own hands out of desperation. We have seen it already happen in the case in a Nagpur court, and in the way people immediately lynch criminals and dacoits instead of letting them slip through the huge gaps in our judicial and Police sytem.

Jesica lal's real culprits

This is not the first time the rich and the powerful get away with murder.this is unlikely to be the last time either.

The Govt's reluctance to act on the recomendation of committees appointed to look into specific issues nullifies the purpose of appointig such commitees.

As was done in the Gujarat riot cases in this case also there has to be appeal against the verdict The opportunity of appeal should be availed to give justice another chance

Jessica Lal's Case
by Dr G V Rao on Feb 22, 2006 05:22 PM  Permalink

It is not correct to blame any institution but we as a society have to be blamed, because we have lost sensitivity. Neither the police, nor the judiciary and even the forensic scientists can be of help if fellow human beings turn hostile. Jessica's colleagues from her fashion world have turned hostile. Witness protection schemes are not of help since the country cannot take the burden and cannot establish the required infrastructure. As it is we are spending crores of rupees every year trying to protect our politicians. It is we, the human beings that need to introspect ourselves and be brave enough to tell what we have seen. So why this blame game. Many Jessica type cases have seen the similar fate. Now the game goes on with the prosecution appealing to the higher courts and so on. The media have a lot on their hand after killing several such cases with their uncalled for comments and hype. Let the Police do their job. If anybody has the guts then let him be brave enough to rise and tell the facts. Till then everyone of us will keep talking.

Jessica Lal's real culprits

The acquital of the accused in this case clearly throws light on the power the people in power yield over the police. The reasons for acquital prove that the Police was conveniently silenced or bought over by the VIPs.It is a shame that a M.P's son and the son-in-law of a former President of India were involved. The Police are not for the common man.

The CBI can help a Quotrochi to withdraw money and summarily declare him to be innocent. It should be called

Central Berau of Inefficiency.

our system too is a culprit.
by wildfish on Feb 22, 2006 05:17 PM  Permalink

Don't you think our system is not a culprit? Its the mail culprit dear.. See how much time it took for a murder that took place in the presence of 150 men and women.

This is Ridiculous. How can you expect the criminals not to do anything in these seven years after providing them bail? What would you do if your are in My "Yadav" or "Sarma" 's place..

i would have terrorize and do what ever i can do to stop the witness.. That is what they have done and they are successful..

What IF they were convicted in 10 days and punished

Think India Think. Its pathetic

It is true that hostility of witnesses led to this disappointment.I personally am very furious and wish to ask eyewitnesses face to face for such behaviour. But then on second thoughts if i wud have been a witness ,wud have done the same thing as they did because of fear.Fear of my personal security,my family's security .Therefore,we need todosomething about that.
