Evidence
by RAJENDER KUMAR on Feb 22, 2006 07:39 PM  Permalink

This landmark judgement shows the weaknesses in Indian judicial system in which the courts just have to look at the material evidence and can't use rationale! Where will you find eye-witnesses and courageous investigators when this type of people are involved?

Our judicial system needs sensibility & courage? We must ensure that our courts don't have to wait for evidence that Sun rises; They shoud be able to see it for themselves.

In this case, it would have been better had the court summoned Chiefs of Delhi Police and CBI to clarify the position! If they don't satisfy court's senses, court could go to the extent of calling the the Home Minister or even the Prime Minister. After all, we are supposed to be living in a democratic country where law of the land applies evenly to everyone!

Unfortunately, we are fast developing a ABOVE ALL breed in our country to whom neither our police nor our politicians can touch. This type of thing will ultimately result in lawlessness which is a dangerous sign for the nation.

Raj

There is no faith left whatsoever in the Indian judiciary which has been reduced to a mockery of sorts that people can take for granted.
A celebrity like Salman Khan is prosecuted and a big shot gets away as he is not a media personality.
The system has become redundant and leaves no scope for any hope

Why the famous political magazines can\\\\\\\'t do investigative journalism in this case
by obs on Feb 22, 2006 07:27 PM  Permalink

This is a challenge to popular political magazines like "India Today", "Tehalka", "OutLook", The-Week and dailys like "The Indian Express" do some investigate journalism on Jessica Lal murder witnesses and why they are not telling truth in courts. Why can't these magazines find who is behind to lure them, what money they have in their accounts.
This is a challenge to thier bosting on they tell and write only truth!!

Have they no conscience?
by Vidya Ramanathan on Feb 22, 2006 07:16 PM  Permalink

I agree with Ms. Jaisingh. One on hand where the prosecution is to blamed for sloppy investigation work, (part of which should be borne by the corrupt legal system itself, which protects the rich and the famous), on the other hand lies, the fault in those who did not stand by the Lal family.
Its surprising, as this was an upstate bar not a 'desi daru adda' and still the invitees so convinently turned to look the other way. Obviously the accused would have used monetary and muscle power on them, but how can they live with this fact for the rest of their lives that they have set a murdered free on the streets to prowl for more Jessica's! And what if one those Jessicas turn up to be one of their own?!
Have they no conscience???

Verdict
by Srinivas on Feb 22, 2006 07:05 PM  Permalink

It is really a shocking news that the Accused were acquitted from the Jessica Lal's case. It shows that in India People can buy JUSTICE, it also clearly indicates that "Judicairy System in India is a Failure". People with money and power can do anything and can even get away from the Crime.

Jessica lal murder
by kuldip on Feb 22, 2006 07:05 PM  Permalink

As far as I remember at the time of murder, the story went around that Ms Bina Ramani was running an illegal bar. The concept of a private party was brought in to save Ms Bina from the prosecution. So it was not a case of social bonding that people did not give evidences. It was a case of influence( fiscal or otherwise), intimidation or any other extreneous circumstance. In India money coupled with political or bureacratic clout can buy anything.M/s Yadav and co do have both in abundance.

Culprits of Jessica Lal's murder.
by Leela Raman on Feb 22, 2006 06:54 PM  Permalink

The verdict in Jessica Lal murder case clearly indicates that in India if a person happens to be one amongst the Rich & Famous, then you can get away with murder. It is a real pity that a country of this size and reputation has such a sloppy judicial system where money alone speaks. It is a matter of greater shame and disgust that witnesses have turned hostile and even today after the verdict has been given, they refuse to talk to the media or even discuss about it....all for a price or life.

Honestly speaking,I have lost faith in the judicial system of our country and all that I can say in this matter is "May Jessica's soul rest in peace."

Shameful!
by Supriyo on Feb 22, 2006 06:48 PM  Permalink

These are reasons why india will never develop! These elites - people who killed and more, the police and the people who looked away - continue to do this disservice to our nation. India is not shining - we are ashamed!

Jessica Lal's Murder
by BN Raizada on Feb 22, 2006 06:45 PM  Permalink

The whole episode of investigation, prosecution, tria and acquittal is not just shocking but appears to be wholly stage-managed by the so called elite of this country who are ruthless and unscruplous in their acts and deeds. It is to be realised that here-in lie the seeds of militancy and terrorism. The most dangerous anti-national activities. We definitely need to make sweeping changes in our entire criminal law procedure to prevent such gross mis-carriage of justice.
