It is shameful to treat people of same country that bad vs. giving visa to white man. Mistakes can happen and Indian official must have done better job getting them in by all legal means.
I wonder the mixed comments on this article. Its so shameful....
Both their parents, I assume, are educated and should know that the Visa rules. They say they lived in US for quite sometime. If you are pulled over for a traffic ticket how many times have the cops listened to you and let you go? You happily say thank you and pay the fine or contest the ticket in court.
What baffles me is that the same people, when they go to India behave as if they need special treatment.
Guys dont have to blame the officials for you incompetence as parents. And the "French national" story line....was that added to spice up your story......
Mistake is on your end. We need to accept that. You are well educated lived in US for 9 years and know all laws regarding VISA and you neglected to take ur children visa because you might have been over confident feeling that Indian officer dont care a shit. But unfortunately they did so. I still feel that they should have given you some more time to receive fax. But nevertheless its a lesson for all Indians in US to follow law whether its US or India or anywhere.
Consider this, How about you having green card traveling to India with your US citizen kids will take it granted that by paying bribe you can let your kids get in (offcourse all emotions attached to kids will play part in melting the immigration officials along with bribe). So Mr. so and so took this for granted and unfortunately met with some honest officer (Mr so and so must have shown him his style and money, i am sure he must have. I am sure a Law abiding officer must have done the same in any country.
As for as French man transit visa is concerned there should be an higher level enquiry in this matter as they mentioned as per present law India shall not offer Transit Visa. Putting skin color in question is just playing with the emotions of public and heating the debate.
So guys chill out and observe, i am being an NRI understand the pain but may be we should not blame Indian Immigration for all.
I feel sorry for innocent kids for getting suffered because of their parents. I am sure in US there will people who will be ready to file complaint against the parents for kids suffering.
I think we should really congratulate the Mumbai immigartion for their stand in this case. I too am a NRI but I dont have any sympathy for the family in this case? My question is: Would you go to any other country and be accepted in it, without proper documents?? People take our country for granted and they think, well--Either we can bribe the officials there and get in or we can brag, boast and coerce to get in. I wonder if the family forgot to get gifts to their family members in Mumbai?? The How come such important documents?? Does not that show that they took India for granted? Good job Mumbai Immigration...Keep up the good work
This is an open and shut case, the Visa Officer was RIGHT and the parents should have known better. Rules are rules, there is no point in crying now, you should have been better prepared before commensing the journey. How stupid, dont you yourself know that your kids are US Citizens and they need a Visa prior to entrying India. NO American Visa officer would have allowed anyone to enter US soil without a Visa. Shame on the parents how blaming their mistakes on a Visa officer who was only doing his job.
