The Security of Mumbai...
by Dharmendra Goel on Aug 20, 2006 04:09 PM  Permalink

PKL. Aug. 20, Sunday, 2006.
We are dished with occasional sensations that the Security is going into Red-Alert mode based on latest Intelligence summaries; such repeated news -reports have have only lulled the ordinary Citizens into distrust and disbelief of our capabilities to definitively put out the evil designs of Terrorists and their Molls in our very permissive Security arrangements.
What is missing is genuine enhancement of effective surveillance of the mischief-makers in the security covers themselves, and the vulnerable underworld dons of Mumbai, who bribe the latter regularly...

Mumbai placed on red alert
by Raaj on Aug 20, 2006 03:06 PM  Permalink

This is something really wierd, on a day when there is nothing special about why would all the security agencies throw up the need for such an alert.

Rajiv Gandhi's has nothing to do with any terroist activity and even if it was it would be in Karunanidhi's tamil nadu. Parsi New year day also shouldn't figure for there are hardly any parsis around and none have ever played with terrorist emotions or raised reasons for them.

I would rather the security agencies keep their eyes and ears open for weekdays when people would be out working. It would be a great achievement if some terrorists were actually tried and punished, 1993 still awaits any such action, rather than just keep alerting people and finding like the weather bureau that they are wrong all the time yet playing with the minds of the people, so leaving behind irreparable psychological damage. One hand the PM asserts they cannot bend us and does nothing to straighten things up, looks more hype and lip sympathy than any serious strategy at work.

Red Alert Mumbai
by Kunuthur Srinivasa Reddy on Aug 20, 2006 10:47 AM  Permalink

Unless the Constitution of India is implemented in letter and spirit, the country continues to be under attack by the vested interests in India and abroad with sole intention to weaken by fragmentation based on caste, religion, region, wealth and selfish politics to grab power at the cost of national integrity.

People should think, act and propogate
by ps on Aug 20, 2006 09:59 AM  Permalink

A normal citizen should think
1. Whether, without the local help, be it providing logistic, shelter, giving the details of importance of the place where the terrorist act would make maximum impact, any outsider (i.e. terrorist), can execute such massacre.
2. Whether the other people might not be providing any direct help but are totally unaware about the people who are providing help to the terrorist. The motives of so-called citizens are clear. In fact they are also passive terrorists.
3. Why the intellectual and progressive people from the same community do not come forward, condemn such drastic acts and do not continuously educated and brain washes their community people to refrain from such activities, help the police etc., otherwise they would be marginalized. In fact in many countries these community is under scanner and even in our county also the people suspects. Why such innocent people should come under scanner just because of community.
4. Whether all these are in the name of religion and community (jaat-bhai).
5. Patriots should awake and fight against such hidden terrorists.

Terror in mumbai
by Ravinder Murthy on Aug 20, 2006 09:48 AM  Permalink

Sir,

The latest news that Miracle water has been found at Mumbai raises fears in our minds. Is it possible that this might be an act of terrorism in this new garb? As India has superstitious people we consume this water and later this acts as a slow poison killing thousands of innocent people? The terroists will not resist even this kind of an gory act.

We request you to bring this doubt in the minds of the people in general and the authorities in particular and take precautionary steps to avert any un-natural tragedies.

Now the Terroists have become very cornered. Our wonderful, stong Intelligence has made their lives misearable. Hence they may opt to stoop to carry out any such heinous acts. Since Water is necessary for us, the terroists may try to poison that itself.

Condemn Terrorism NOW.

Systamatic and scientific approach for checking-traffic
by Syambabu Madireddi on Aug 19, 2006 09:32 PM  Permalink

Its good not be panic. However security forces have to be vigilant by checking all incoming and out going vehicles. For doing so police personnel can make bandobast in a systamatic way, by allowing buses, lorries, jeeps/cars, two wheelers etc to travel in particular lanes. This had to start at least two KMs before check point. By doing this traffic moves smoothly, checking will be in a scientific way, not much problem to commuters. for example, because of not following lane disipline
on 14th August traffic was moving at a slow pace at vashi end of Mumbai. It took at least 2 Hrs just to pass vashi bridge and octrio naka. More over, in such a situation, patients and others will be put at discomport

terrorism
by drnagireddy on Aug 19, 2006 09:24 PM  Permalink

we are not bothered till some serious incidence takes place,.then we make lot of noise and forget about it later without following it up or taking correctve steps. for example we could not learn any lesson from madrid blasts .till the blasts in trains in mumbai we could not put any cc tvs.till today there is no definite clue about the perpetrators.
