by harinder on Aug 14, 2006 11:55 PM  Permalink

I wrote a Q on a Sikh philosphy site a question which I reproduce verabtium here :"-----

Dear brother

I have a nonspiritual question to ask the SPN philosophers.

We are aware that God ( Akhal purakh ) controls this earth. From time to time he sends himself on this planet in different forms.

My question is a very earthly one is any one Person contriling this earth for human beings ?

If so the who is it ?

President Of USA :- George Bush
Vatican -- POPE
Imam of Mecca
MNC -CEOs
Chinese premier
I guess it will require to stretch your imagination a lot ?

May be we could get an answer to our query if we can answer the above question .

Fight against Terror.
by Ravikant on Aug 11, 2006 11:26 AM  Permalink

Mr Tarun Vijay's article certainly reflects the tone of anger and frustration that the Indian state is unable to do anything on the ground to counter the terror war unleashed on us.
We definitely need to do something on the ground that will demonstate our resolve to battle terrorism and join the global alliance in the war on terror.
In the present state of military preparedness of our neighbour;an all out border war is not the right solution.
Besides identifying the foot soldiers of the real enemy, we need to pinpoint their resources, cleverly concealed, in the normally functioning economy. The shadow economy and trade in financial deals, arms supply, logistics, the recruiting grounds, and a vast army of ideological sympathisers is the unseen force that the Indian state must recognise and liquidate with the firmness that other countries are demonstrating.
This is not the work of a conventional standing army.We need a different army to handle this war. The battle with the field operatives will have to be fought with a lot of sophistication.
Lastly, without a nationwide all inclusive consensus this task is next to impossible.

peration rakaram
by bhupinder on Aug 11, 2006 11:08 AM  Permalink

Mr Tarun,
Your column shows that you apparently don't have understanding of national affairs particularly matters military or you are just writing this to ridicule Mr Jaswant for the reasons best known to you.You don't have to use the force always. The "force in being "itself is ä weapon which can be used to equal effects.I know this episode of not going in action is being used against the party in power at time, but to score a political point is incorrect. What was the purpose of "prakaram" ?The aim was well served.Just because the nation was prepared to go for war does not mean that you have to launch the operations. If by the show of force the purpose is served so be it.A lot of damage to the nation is averted by not going to war.We would have got the same results even after allout war.In fact the govt at that time should be credited for not going for allout war and still achieve the results.Bravery is not by getting killed but by achieving the national goals. It is sad that the common people are shown an incorrect picture of the whole affairs.Imagine how many lives have been saved and that also of common people of the country.Lets be realistic. Thanks

BJP nationalist
by sg on Aug 11, 2006 10:59 AM  Permalink

The BJP started off by projecting them selves as a nationalist party but when in govt and the govt of running a coalition govt made them look more like the congress. During their end specially when Vajpaee and Advani played the minority card of appeasement. Where as their ideology was to promote equal oppurtunity for all. But they slipped badly. I see that as a major factor in their downfall.

Jaswant- a mole?
by Vishvaksenah on Aug 11, 2006 10:56 AM  Permalink

I strongly suspect that Sri Jaswant Singh without his knowledge acted like a mole.
Very often the leaders of our society are made to act as per the interests of the other guy. This is done by the other guy in a very subtle manner by inviting our folks to seminars, or being honoured with some awards or some fancy titles.
Many of our leaders including our most beloved Bapuji and Chachaji have been such victims.
These kind of people are more dangerous and treachorous to the nation than double agents like Rabindra Singh
Some external forces or inducements like Nobel Peace Prize or some cheap awards must have been used as carrot by the other guy to see that people like Sri Jaswant Singh and his colleagues keep mum after the attack on the Parliament.

What is that 'External Pressure'?
by Nationalist on Aug 11, 2006 05:03 AM  Permalink

Jaswanth owes explanation to this country as to what was that 'external pressure' if at all there was one. Also, who was he to take a call on whether to go for war or not, by passing the then Defence Minister (George Fernades) or the then Prime Minister. If India is ruled by such spineless 'intelligentia' and 'diplomats', its better the country is take care of by commonman with bare minimum intelligence and sense of pride of being Indian and who can protect the country irrespective of 'external pressure'.

Shame on you Mr.Jaswanth in being an ex-army man!

A belligrent nation & a sahib
by Dinkar Koppikar on Aug 11, 2006 02:41 AM  Permalink

You must realise Mr. Vijay that British could rule a nation of 300 million with only one lakh or so soldiers and administrators because they had a plentiful supply of obsequious brown sahibs from amongst us who were overawed by British power. While the struugle for independence produced patriotic and upright Indians they exceeded brown sahibs only marginally at the time of independence, but the latter held the resources and levers of power to rule the nation after independence. Brown sahibs are to be found in all parties. They lack confidence in the nation and in moments of crisis try to hold it back. Compare the conduct of our politicians and bureaucrats with their counter part in China in varous crises faced by our nations during the last sixty years. When the leaders of other nations visit India they fool us by flattering and we are too hungry for that flattery, but in a crunch we give in. That has been our story for the last two hundred years. Things have not improved after independence.
