I fully share the views of the author. Despite the fact that central asian countries are very close to India historically and traditionally, and there are huge goodwill towards india in the region, there good prospects and potential for mutual economical relations there are no focus and attention from india govt side. Only the small business community from both side trying to do some thing. Even Pakistan govt is working actively on various fronts in the region. There are no awareness about the region in India.
My brother is working in a national daily. He is quiet often used to publish news about interesting events in central asia specially in Tashkent. One fine day he was questioned by the editor of the news paper for highlighting central asia and told him that no one is interested in such news, better to focus on other international affairs. This kind of attitude we are having towards central asia.

I congratulate you on writing such a wonderful article which sums up India's foreign policy (or the lack of it). Nehru's panchsheel policy has, a long time ago, been relegated to history texts but somehow we have never been able to prepare a sound long term vision and objective and lay the strategy to achieve it. If things work out, we dance, if it fails we blame.
China has been building bridges all across Central Asia and has even entered South America. Perfect example of the game of GO wherein the objective is to encircle your opponent - The West. China has a model for economic development and is busy implementing it across the globe. Do we have any ???
I think it is high time the country wakes up to the reality that in the near future there will be no comparison between India and China but between In-China and Out-China.
