Should there be ban on Dance Bars
by Nikhil on Apr 14, 2006 12:47 PM  Permalink

Ban is typical response of incompetent political & Buerocratic eshtablishment. There is nothing wrong in the dance at the bars, they do not wear indecent clothes (atleast in todays context , given what we are shown by the media- remember the Carol Gracias exploitation by the "Holier than Thou" Media). What is wrong is the Human traffiking & exploitation going on in the cover of the dance bars. Eshtablishment is unable to stop prostitution happening under the cover of Modelling, Films, Beauty Parlours, Massage services. So by that logic Modelling, Films , Beauty parlors should be banned. The eshtablishments inability to enforce exisiting laws( and the existing laws are quite adequate)and take action against corrupt police & politicians is being very deviously covered up by giving an emotional twist( our politicians have mastered "State of the Art" techinque of emotionally exploiting Religion, Caste & Culture )by invoking "INDIAN CULTURE" & "CORRUPTION OF YOUNG MINDS" . This is typical divertionary tactic of Indian Politicians & we should not fall for this. Ban is not teh answer, effective enforcement of Law to STOP THE TRAFFIKING & EXPLOITATION OF WOMEN is the right way.

dance bars need not be banned,They provide entertainment and relaxation to the customers.they also provide employment to girls.Misbehaving with dancing girls inside the bars is very rare and remote as the dance programme is watched by so many people. These dancing girls volountarily come and dance to earn their livelyhood. Those who say that these dance programmes are obscenne have forgotten how the same girls are exposed in the big screen.

Shou;d dance bars be allowed?
by Jaya Joshi on Apr 14, 2006 12:39 AM  Permalink

Why not? Are they not human beings? Can the Maharashtra government provide for all the dancers who would be displaced? What does it want to do... push these poor girls into sex trade? There are better things for the police to go after... please leave these girls alone.. I am all for legalizing bar girl business and prostitution... I think so because I am not being hypocritical... these trades survive because they have a market.. a huge market rather.. if the government gives it a legal status, at least it gets an industry status and things might change for the better!!

I think Dance bars should not be Allowed in the cities and villages. If at all they are to be allowed then that should be remote areas which doesnot affect the common people

Dance bars

Moral policing of any kind is repulsive. It smacks of the Spanish Inquisition and the Islamic dress-code for women.
Each one of us is very well equipped to handle our own moral turpitude. We don't need the Government to impose it's diktat on us.
The choice is simple. If you don't like these places, don't go there. Obviously there are people who do like it. Or else they wouldn't flourish.
Even places like Paris have the "Folies Bergere". Bombay (not Mumbai) has always been known to be at the forefront, in terms of a snazzy lifestyle.
Why kill it?
BTW, I haven't been to a dance bar in the last 15 years. How many of those who favour the ban have ever been inside one? I really didn't find anything immoral there. Repulsive, loud and tacky maybe, but not immoral. There's more flesh seen on TV and the movies than in there!
