in which age r we living
by ashish sinha on Jun 28, 2005 08:43 PM  Permalink

In wich age are we living? Why do such people exist in our country whose mindset seems to be lost somewhere 1000 years ago in time.

I sincerely urge my muslim brothers, please do not support such people who still practise customs that defy common sense and the most obvious notion of justice.

This is so inhumane. How can some body live happily leaving the love of her life and living with her rapist. What sort of law is this ?? Surely .. allah can not frame such laws. Its the result of whim and fancy of some of the fundamentalist people.

Please please please... my muslim brothers and sisters.... pls ask those people to wake up... pleaseeeeeeeee. If hindus ask them to wake up it shall only be considered as hatred against the whole muslim lot.. what can I do.. I am a hindu. I need your support. This battle can't be won without you...

thankx a lot,
ashish

Unfair Judgement by Muslim Personal Law board
by Siddiq on Jun 28, 2005 07:39 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I would like to rise my concern about the unfair judgement, Instead of punishing the Father in Law why are they forcing Imrana to live with him. This would create sense of insecurity and doubts in the minds of feminine gender. I am also concerned that this should not set a bad example and create shame for the followers of Islam. In my opinion the Father in Law has to be punished and let the couples decide their fate( If Imrana chooses to live with her husband she should be allowed to).

I was shocked about the verdict given by the Law board, As Islam is one of the very few religions who takes the consent of the Bride in choosing her Groom.

IMRANA
by deepak shastri on Jun 28, 2005 06:58 PM  Permalink

Muslim Personal Law Board probably have it very easy in India. Which time of history they are living in? They should think through their heads and not through rigid interpretations. This, obviously, makes them unpopular in our country. Why are they not able to think like a normal human beings? What if something similar happens to their own kith & kin? Will they understand then? I doubt.

Irrespective of any religion, this issue should be thought off as that of an individual - Why are others becoming "BEGAANEE SHAADI MEIN ABDULLAH DIWANA?"

Very funny rules still not interpreted properly just out of fear of personal loss of life by somebody attacking them or their family members. Now, evenif there are good enough people in their community who understand what is correct and what is not, they are scared to death.

there should be one law-keep the religion away
by Vijaya Kumar on Jun 28, 2005 06:47 PM  Permalink

Only one law of the land should be present. Religon and law should not be mixed accoriding to convenience. If Muslims want Islamic law fro themselves, it cannot be selective. We should cut of the hands for stealing, pluck off the eys of seeing etc. If the Muslim law that only to humiliate women should be imposed is absolutely unacceptable system.

Edict on Imrana unfair
by Athar on Jun 28, 2005 06:28 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Did anybody ask the victim as to what is there in her mind instead of imposing such laws on her directly. She should be free to take her own decision.

Regards,

Unfair treatment meted out to Imrana and the likes of her.
by Umesh on Jun 28, 2005 06:20 PM  Permalink

I strongly condemn a biased approach that is against the basics of humanity itself. I am going voice it too. Its absurd even that such learned people have to be told what is right and wrong. A wronged woman has been wronged further by the injustice meted out to her. It is very unfortunate for humanity itself. Every sane individual has to vociferously speak against this inhuman act.

Who is Tahir Mahmood ?
by Abdul on Jun 28, 2005 05:50 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Dar-ul-Uloom is the highest authority in the world today on fatwa and even the Arabs accept Dar-Ul-Uloom as an authentic source reatining the essence of Islamic law.

Tahir Mahmood may be a two paisa Islamic law expert and rediff.com has picked his opinion just to make this incident a hot topic.

The father-in-law must be stoned to death as per Islamic law...

Dear Abdul,

You are saying "Dar-ul-Uloom is the highest authority in the world today on fatwa...." and again you are saying "The father-in-law must be stoned to death as per Islamic law"....Are you not rejecting Dar-ul-Uloom's fatwa here ? Think about it.

Shocking News!!
by niraj on Jun 28, 2005 05:45 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Hi,

It is really a SHOCKING incident in which the victim
herself is being punished by the panchayat.
My freind Mr. Taheer Mahmood is right, that Imrana's
fate should not be decided by some ancient laws.
The panchayat who has made this decision should be punished also who give the green signal should be taken very strictly.Law's should be made in favour of victim and not in the favour of criminal.
Once again it has been proved that Islamic seminary Darul Uloom Deoband is a complete crap.

niraj.
