Dear Sir: It is disheartening to see that our learned prime minister is going to abolish the oil pipe line treaty with Iran. Iran is our long time ally and that has been proved in various occasions. It appears that we are going to give up our old friend at the cost of getting nuclear fuel. I strongly believe that India has the capability for enriched fuel on their own. Government should encourage the nuclear scientist rather than to beg nuclear fuel from America. I fear that we will float between China and America. I apprehend America will interfare in our internal matter. I personally feel that we could have survived without the promised fuel for our nuke plants.
Pkl. Saturday , the 23rd July 2005. Without being a cassandra and seeing a curse when redoubtable administrator and knowledgeable diplomat Sreenivasan sees great prospects in recent US willingness- to give us some terms for badly impaired Nuclear Tarapore Reactor for want of fuel as earlier Indians were not letting IAEA monitor our Reactors for misdemeanors, I am not so rosy as the expert diplomat, here.Reasons are following three:- 1. US insists on trading inspection for N. Fuel. 2. Despite AQKhan's proverbial hawking Nuclear designs for Uranium isotopes enrichment tech. pakistan remains darling of US Patrons parity to us in Us reckonings . 3.Lastly, it reveals that in our Nuclear technologies nothing gets done unless Uncle Sam permits us to import vital fuel and equipts. ,despite Kalam's and others claims that we are on our own.D. This freeing up of civilian nuclear power generation from the curtails imposed by strategic considerations to purely economic and developmental needs is a very welcome step and if backed up with a legal framework which permits transparent private participation, both domestic and foreign, would definitely add one and may be even 2 percentage points to our current 6 percent growth rate.
This signaling of trust would open up other high tech sectors hemmed by strategic calculations, including semiconductor chips, aviation and ship building sectors.
Such steps get initiated because of complex factors and may be it is appropriate to view the new agreement as a logical step towards a safer legal world. This deal would be safe and legal, only if it does not constrain Indias non-alignment policy.
Does anyone here think we should have more intellectual politicians representing India? Would having a minimal educational qualification to be a MP or MLA help improve India's image in the long run?

i think the eligibility of an MLA or MP should be revised.a proper educational qualification should be there for any MLA OR MP.educated youth today are doing well in politics in comparison to ministers who are less qualified but experienced.
respected I am in touch of news from this visit . i am very curious about this visit of PM . i find this will make india more closer to america & uncover the speculaions of american about indian ur's reader amit
I won't be surprised to see the indian govt goin slow on the Iran - India oil pipeline and then finally giving it up as unfeasible, now that it has been given a carrot in form of civilian nuclear tech transfers.
