wrong hands
by Vijaya Kumar on Feb 02, 2005 08:05 PM  Permalink
Oh! "Frank does not belong to India!"-I think he is a better Indian than any native. "We will not hand over to wrong hands!"-May be it worth studying Indian History a bit more. Every dim wit and thug who came to India ruled it and the Hindus served calling them emperors. The real fighters of Indian Independence were neglected and criminals took over. India is safe not because, the Indians wised up, but because there International observation for occupation and the Indian army sacrificed their lives to protect it.

Go India go ! Let there be NO cry anywhere !
by Dr. Cajetan Coelho on Jan 31, 2005 05:41 PM  Permalink

Our way of proceeding is to wipe every tear from every eye. We wish ourselves and our leaders a long and healthy life in the service of humanity. It is true that our heads of spiritual movements possess enormous resources. They need to be encouraged to participate in improving the quality of life of our people. They could invest more in infrastructure like safe drinking water, medical facilities, sanitation and nutrition. Historians tell us that just like our sacred scriptures of Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Islam, the Bible too is Asian in origin. The founder of christianity they say was born in an Asian village of Asian parents who practiced carpentary for their livelihood. Historical accounts show how the westerners have been exploiting and misusing Christ and the Bible for their own selfish ends. Colonialism, the Divide and Rule Policy, looting of resources, dismantling local societies and economies, defining and redefining the natives have been some of the scars left in South America, Africa, Asia and in the lands of the aboriginals world wide. Annual letters from their overseas staff and collaborators to parent organizations and home governments are full of such mischief.

Mr Francois Nice to read this beautiful article. This is one of those ironies with Indians. Identity crisis.. Should we call it. Unless somebody like each and everyone of us wake up and individuals get in to the awakenings we will be lost lost forever.

Dear All,

I read the comments, both in favour as well as in anger, to the article of Francois Gautier. Unfortunately many of them have been written in a state of excitement, without giving a meaningful thought to the contents.

One might not agree to all the points raised. But Gautier is right in pointing out ceratin dangers which the Indian society is facing and the dangers of its lasting 'tolerance'. There is no disputing the fact that people like Manmohan Singh and Kalam attained position not due to religion. But we all know for sure that Manmohan is not his own man and he is on her Majesties service.

In one of the comments, I read a learned individual writing that Sonia left her country and religion the day she married the beloved son of India. I would like person to do some reading before making the comment of Sonia leaving her country and religion. Sonia din't take up Indian Citizenship till 1980s. She did only when Rajiv was to become the PrimeMinister of India. Also she wanted to flee the country when lost power in 1977.This exposes her love for country.

Let's leave this country in hands of God.

Jai Hind
Shine P

Manmohan Singh is not his own man?
Now that is a baseless accusation. You obviously don't follow politics so I won't argue with you. Just a small tip:
Don't believe the rumours you hear & watch the parliament sessions now & then.

Try to know India beyind Hinduised version of it
by MADHAB on Jan 31, 2005 01:36 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I feel sick everythime I read articles by this "Westerner" and "Born Christian". This person doesn't seem to know anything other than Hinduised version of it--may be this person has spent two much time with the Hindu Indians rather than travelling and understanding the country! Sonia Gandhi is not respected because she's Westerner or Christian --she is respected because of her status in Indian history and her Indianess(not Hinduness). India is not characterised by some Hindu ideas alone. Try to visit the vast land of North-East India and see how many types of tribes and ethnic communities are living in the North-East! People in the North-East may know less about Hinduism than you know. People in this region may follow totally different types of worshiping! But even here Sonia Gandhi is revered for her certain sacrifices in the sea of corruption of Indian politicians. I am giving example of North East India just to note how diverse India is! India is not the country of Hindutva or Hindusim as projected by your BJP/RSS/VHP friends! Its a land characterized by several religions---each religion is well respected, not because someone is from West !

Actually, Hinduism comprises all the native spiritual expressions and symbols of the Indian subcontinent, including so called animism. There is no real dividing line between Hinduism as we know it, and the religious expressions of the north east. Remember that Hinduism has no founder, central religious authority or single holy book.
