Actually, Hinduism comprises all the native spiritual expressions and symbols of the Indian subcontinent, including so called animism. There is no real dividing line between Hinduism as we know it, and the religious expressions of the north east. Remember that Hinduism has no founder, central religious authority or single holy book.
