There we go again! All this talk about the 'spirit of Mumbai' is great. And its all so very convenient to blame the government the BMC the Beaurocracy - the only one missing is the 'foreign hand'. Can we for ONCE look inward and apportion at least PART of the blame on us, the denizens of the city who have littered, abused and mistreated every piece of infrastructrue (admitedly not much) provided by the wholly incompetent government. But then, as a wise person once said: THE PEOPLE GET THE GOVERNMENT THEY DESERVE!
I read the comments from all the people so far and conclusion is that everyone is critisizing the government, govt. officials .... But I would like to talk about the "Shiv Sena" where are the "Shiv Saniks". They come and create huge havoc wheneve some vulgarity is shown in movies, whenever there is something related to hiduism etc. My point is that isn't they come at this time for helping people.
Secondaly critisizing the governement officials for malpractices won't solve the issue because it is not the govt. at that level which is not working properly, it is the human being a person who is staying next to your house, he might be your friend, uncle or even your own father who is corrupt. So the point is loud and clear those people who have been doing it should learn and rather they should retrospect and try to see what they have done wrong which might have resulted in loss of life of innocent people. We don't need Mathama because practically nobody can be so in this Kalug you have to survive and for that you have to be crook. So it is like corrupt people should think themselves to be a part of picture which get spoiled if the painter throws water over it and not as a painter
For the past week or so I've been listening to interviews and reports on the TV about this cloud burst. The media has a tendency to hype things out of proportion. How? I'll give you 2 exapmples - My fiancee lives in Goregaon, Mumbai. She's been able to commute to work (Malad) and back throughout this rainfall. TV reports say Goregaon was severly affected. Not totally true. The point is that the media is shows only the worst parts of the city. There are areas in the city that are safe, these never figure in the reports.
A live coverage on NDTV showed a place in Santa Cruz where the water was reaching the wheel tops of vehicles. And the reporter caused panic by stating that the entire area was flooded. On the same screen during the report we could all see the road right next to the said road was water free and traffic was normal. On the same road it was only a portion of about 20 feet that had water, the rest of the road was clear. TV channels please refrain from broadcasting such reports which increase the panic in the city already reeling. Give hope along with the truth.
Please try to give some hope to the people alongwith the truth. It's not only about the TV ratings.
The rain gods shouldnt be blamed for all the mess.We all are resposible for this tragedy.Following things are notworthy: As mumbai has no proper planning when it comes to sewage, traffic sense, city planning or social responsibilities. Our chalta hai attitude cost us so many life. corrupt burecacy and politicians who are re-elected on regular basis by us. Do you all think the 500 crores sancationed by prime minister will reach the needy people? The centre should try to decentralise development of all major cities of india. Mumbai should rightly get its share of finance and development as mumbai contributes to 60 percent of the nations net revenue. This rains are just a indication that mumbai is a sitting duck which can be dislodged by any calamity. i request all the people of mumbai who love this great city to come together and fight for their city and there rights for which we all have contributed by our blood and sweat.
