if such is the condition of bihar, i believe biharis themselves are to be blamed a lot. throughout india, people who were once agriculture based or prone to do menial work in cities, have undergone a vast change by educating themselves, looking for better jobs or generally trying to improve their overall condition. however, i still see biharis happily pulling carts, doing menial jobs and living merrily 12 in one room without a hang about health, hygiene or other improvements in general condition. it is little wonder then that they are similarly least bothered about the apalling condition in their home state.
Sorry to say this I sent 3 messages for questions 1) Is Mumbai Safe for women? 2) will u support sena's stand on rape case? 3)Is women should work in night shifts? Nice article âLet them eat plastic bagsâ by Kanchan Gupta mentioning how the flood situation was handled. Every year particularly in month of July/August, there is flood due to heavy rainfall and excessive sudden discharge of water from Nepal in north-east portion of Bihar. So every year there is a maple scope to collect (or beg) the money from honest taxpayers and to swindle the money. Also every year in same Bihar, during month of April to June, there are some districts starving due to acute water shortage. Again there is a scope for swindling money. The persons who are objecting such man-created situations can be dumped by calling them as anti-social, communal, fascist, oppression of downtrodden etc. I do not understand how the press reporters are never mentioning about the resignation of our great hero Gautam Goswami resigned from the Patna collectorâs post. There was a objection raised for using the government buildings for posters and banners for then proposed rally of Laluâs party Rashtriya Janata Dal to be held after declaration of last Loksabha election i.e. when the code of conduct was imposed. He never objected to such use. On the contrary, he helped the party. Later Election Commission objected and the posters and banners were ordered to be removed. Our great hero Gautam Goswami, rather than complying with the order, quit the job. After quitting the government job, he was invited by Sahara group. Naturally, you wonât get Goswamiâs news about the corruption charges on Sahara Channels.
The "great sacrificer" cannot sacrifice Laloo Prasad Yadav because otherwise her remote control won't work. The present prime minister is the biggest hypocrite. Doctor, heal thyself first.
Dear Editor, The job of a news paper or internet news portal is to criticize the wrong thing happening somewhere. But when you crticize be very careful that you are not maligning the state itself.I think the attitude taken by rediif.com towards Bihar is highly condenscending and it maligns everyone.I think you people would be most happy if somehow Bihar vanishes in air.I don't see any good news about Bihar .You people write articles on Bihar without actually sending your own reporters on the ground and you base your story on what you read or see in media. Please wake up and be fair to around 6-7 crores Indians.
An Excellent Article. Such type of Government attrocities are not only present in Bihar but also in other states like Kerala. GOD alone knows if at all these attrocities will stop as today, people have begun to accept these as a way of life.
Is it not a matter of shame for us that a person who has been involved serious Scams, is the Railways minister. He who has had such a track record has been handed over the biggest corporation in the world.
Things might be seem to be normal till such time that the UPA govt rules. But do not be surprised if a the Biggest Scam in World (In Indian Railways) is discovered after the tenure of the current UPA govt is over.
Even by anecdotal evidence standards, President's rule is definitely a good thing for Bihar.
I have personally run into people who said they have had to fo to office "on time", since it is President's rule now.
A returnee from a village was delighted to see that the police had picked up the goons who had been settling all disputes on their own terms till recently.
Finally, the 'rangdari' tax, or protection tax to give it its rightful name, seems to be absent for the past two months...Giving tremendous relief to shopkeepers.

I can recollect the reign of the late Dharmaveera in Karnataka during the seventies. At the end of six months, people wanted him to continue for Five Years or more! If that was so in a progressive state like Karnataka, I can imagine the plight of Biharis in Bihar.
the writer should desist from such unjustified criticism before pronouncing everyone from the primeminister to the ias officer guilty and try not to impart a hardline view

Dude, do u understand what is apathy? The state of Bihar is in complete anarchy and chaos, and you are prescribing moderation. And rather than reading the article as criticism, can't you see the pain the author is conveying. Infact if possible Lalu should be charged with prolonged genocide. 15 years of genocide, degrading Bihar's law and order to such an extent that it is practically genocide. Lalu is several times worse than Modi, atleast he has achieved a lot of development for his state. So dude, wake up unless you are an RJD member yourself.
