root of the problem
by manish rastogi on May 01, 2008 12:32 PM  Permalink

Good article. however i would like to draw the attention toeards the fact that these are not problems with the company work profile but the bosses to whom the person is reporting. these are clear cut presence of unproffessional or idiotic person sitting at your top. If your boss is good then definitely you will be assigned the job which you should do. I have also undergone the same for some time so i know that this is the problems with person to one reports and not the company.

Back to Slavery
by M R Honavar on May 01, 2008 12:32 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The upwardly moble middle-class of our country has invited this slavery upon itself by blindly aspiring to imitate western lifestyle and culture at the cost of our impoverished masses.
It is the slavish mentality of the middle-class parents that forces the youngsters into the rat race. Instead of inculcating traditional values of simplicity and sacrifice, the parents and teachers of today are teaching the students techniques of running faster in this race.

The current so-called economic boom and growth is nothing but the process of becoming the mental serfs and slaves of the white people who control the world with their stronghold on electronic media. It is the East-India Company story all over again. But this time they are not using spices for gaining entry.. They use tools like Hollywood/Bollywood, Cricket and Fashion Shows.
This time the enslavement is even worse because during the British times, at least we could identify the exploiters by their white skins. This time around they are of our own flesh and blood riding mercs and hondas along roads dotted by slums !
This time it is not the white man pillaging the countryside for timber for the railways, it is we ourselves who are destroying our environment and converting our fertile country into a degraded wasteland where even simple living is going to become impossible in a few years because of the greed of the its people for material good.

RE:Back to Slavery

So it is futile to complain about poor work-conditions in these boom-time jobs, when we have bargained for almost abject slavery.
The only solution to this is when we as a nation change our priorities and redefine development to be in tune with the stark reality that India is completely different from the West. It simply does not have the resources to provide for a happy western way of life for its vast population. But it has great resources if it realises that it first-and-foremost is a Spiritually gifted nation. India's true wealth lies in its spirituality, its infinitely deep cultural roots and its ancient civilisation based on Dharma which commands its people to regard this world not just as a place for sensory enjoyment but as a field of righteous action and that teaches its people to regard the earth as a holy mother fit for worship and not plunder.
Until we remind ourselves of this fundamental truth of our national character, we will continue to be enslaved in one way or the other by the western countries.
If there is to be hope, we as a nation need to evolve a lifestyle ethic of its own that restores the ecology and heals the degraded environment. In fact if we look at our history, and our scripture, we will not only find guidelines, but concrete formulas and procedures of how we should make this happen.
There is no need to look to westwards to Harvard and Oxford to know how to manage this.

Indian Work Place
by ajay anand on May 01, 2008 12:29 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This is nothing, there are hordes of example of so called private limited comanies duping youngsters, by not giving them appointment letters, salary slips, TDS. They exploit people for thefact that a person who has migrated from backwaters of India has no other option than contintuing in the current job. Most of the so called big companies ask for MBAs with at least three years experience for entry level jobs. Moreover, as organization do not want to invest resources or time on tarining so people dont get learning at all. Average Indian worker works 10-12 hrs in a day, add to it the long commuting hours in metro citiesand people are not left with any quality time for self development.

Government is blinking eyes on these social issues how people of India in corporate world being exploited to work forcefully over 10 to 12 hours a day. THis is crime against humanity and against labour laws of the country. But law enforcing agencies are not nothered of all this issues at all. I work in Afric and Middle East soem of my friend work in Europe adn US they experience only 8 hours day adn maximum 40 hours week working. Annual vacation is compulsory and so many ristrictions. But India is playground of all illlegal and unethical non human practices of mideval age. India is practing miseval age HR pratices in 21 st century and every one is silent is irony.

thought provoking is not enough

it should provoke action.

even companies are working hard to torture you. why are you saying work hard and prove your worth.

when the system itself is wrong, your hard work goes in vain.

the correct system is agriculture and rural life.

Well Long back ago I was read one article about why people leav organization. The author tells to indian youth is that if your company or Industry is not growing 30% growth how come the emplyee excpecting same amount of % in his /her salary. Because his output or deliverable are same nothing valuaddition.starting of the career for any graduate/MBA or any one PROFILE PROFILE is very impratant. He should learn how to learn the work .Life is like PLC life cycle if he dont have stuff how come he will survive in this competitive world next 35 years .
Companies are hunting for talent we have to leav some impression on our management .
I am working in pharmaceutical industry in International dept since 2 yrs 6 months .

INDUSTRY versus AGRICULTURE
by siva krishna on May 01, 2008 12:25 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Dear All

agriculture needs land

industry also needs land

agri can produce food grains which you can eat and sustain

but industry will produce only NUTS and BOLTS which you can not eat.

please think critically.

every body is looting land in the name of industry.

every body is looting land in the name of stadiums and golf courses.

please donot sell your agri land.

Yes,Like forest land we have to preserve the agriculture land for our food, available with us and everybody knows that when our economy is only based upon only agriculture why we are suiciciding by establishing industries on agriculture lands. We are only polluting and getting nothing out of it.In these days we should remember Mahatma Gandhi and his economy.

i totaly agree with you. there is no need to sell agriculture land to colonisers who will first cut down all paddy fields & make a golf course for the rich. Govt should discourage over industrialization & pseudo-real estate.

100% Agreed. Those who have Ample land for agriculture want to do a job only do drink liquor & freak out. They dont understand the value of the land. My so many friends havind land but doing jobs for 10 to 12 hrs daily. They said I will not understand the problems of agriculture because I dont have land. It's true that agri sector is depend on Water & Nature but one can get enough income to survive.

water will be supplied profusly by nature when people worship lord (yajnad bhavati parjanya - refer bhagavad gita)

so the life cycle is agri land, cows and bulls to work, and worship for getting rains. the result will be profuse supply of grains.

this is the recomendation of the vedas and bhagavad gita.
