Govt is fooling govt employees
by James Bond on Mar 24, 2008 04:05 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Giving 40% increase will actually be in basic and then on HRA which if housing availed, the govt employee will not get that benefit. Govt has very smartly has taken away Right to Strike with the help of Supreme Court. Now these employees have no option but to accept whatever filth is thrown infront of them. Govt employees get their salary revision once in TEN years and in that TEN years, the increase of 40%. It's a real shame. Those working in govt sector have to pay through their noses and on that govt of India wants them to feel happy about it. When farmers are helped for no reason and for vote bank politics, salary of govt employee should minimum increase three-fold as the next increase will be after 10-years. There should be no increase in housing fee that govt takes as most of the houses govt offers are 50-years old.

Dear Lakshmanan,

Things have changed. There is no recruitment in govt sector now and people who are retiring are leaving responsibilities. Who are handling this work. You all have made an image of a govt employee, but that image is two decades old. Today, no recruitments and every employee is handling work which earlier belonged to his three step seniors. Only peon and drivers are not contributing.

corruption and bribe
by Hari on Mar 24, 2008 03:57 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is a wrong notion that all govt employees are corrupt. It is all in mind, the greedy person shall always go for corruption irrespective of salary he is getting. Even if he gets 20 lakh per annum , he shall seek bribe.

Armed Force: Present army chief is facing an enuiry relating to purchases made during his tenure in Northern command. Extremist groups are getting regular supply of army ammunition (bullets, shells, mines, etc.). Clothing, shoes, etc. are regularly raided in general shops adjecent to cantonnment areas.
Department of Posts- out of 10 money orders reported missing only 6 could be traced. since it relates to normally poor and illiterate people it seldom gets reported.
NiC- National Informatics Centres are supposed to manage almost all information relating to public / government interest. Just tell me the address of a government site managed by NIC where I can get complete list of medical colleges in India or total energy consumption in last 5 years.
In short they don't work. As and when they get opportunity they make money in departmental purchases.

Dear Hari,
Majority of govt. employees are corrupt if not all. You go to any of office be it passport office, revenue, administrative, municipal office or for name any other, they will make you swing between the tables and ultimately you have to pay some thing. They dont call it bribe, for them its SEWA SHULK (FEE).
I am sorry forgot to mention Police, medical (during night if you visit any hospital you have to pay).
In gotv. people really dont work. They know how to survive. JUGAR TECHNOLOGY is always handy. If you have good links them you will be posted at good place and get govt. job above all.
Do some introspection.
I am working with Uttrakhand govt. So far I have been fighting with corruption and will do it.

Illogical Pay Commissions
by Sujeel on Mar 24, 2008 03:52 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The present system of Pay Commission is completely irrelevant and illogical. One can not decided about present pay scale by seeing the pay ten year old scale. The present system of revision of scales is not justified, suppose if an emloyee is working since last just 2-3 months and another of the same grade is working since last more than nine years then both will get the same package! Hence pay commission should be made more justified by:

- Revising scales in regular interval of time
- Performance based increament/incentives
- Public opinion about an employee should be
initiated
- Increament based on profits/peroformance of a
department
- Should be based on inflation
- Treasury's heatlt should be kept in Mind.

Big Hike???
by arun kumar singh on Mar 24, 2008 03:50 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I absoultely agree with Manu R regarding the 6th pay comission. Nowadays the people working in private sector expect appraisals every year so why can't the gov employees expect the same in 10 yrs time. Most of us esp. younger ppl think that there is 'no' work done in goverment offices but that is not true. We can go to extreme lengths about praising our defence fpersonnel, organising shows for them sitting here in big cities or even sending filmstars to entertain them but when it comes to giving to them what they truely deserve we say that the extra expenditure is a 'burden for the economy'. These ppl should try living the life the way the defence personnel do with the kind of salary they currently get and I am sure they'll be running back home in a month or two.

by shreen on Mar 24, 2008 04:00 PM  Permalink
Mr.Arun Kumar singh. C/O.Govt of India! Do you understand the meaning of "appraisals"? there is a performance review done and besed on that a certain reward is given based either as a pay hike or a bonus or both. The appraisal also is against a per set goals, which again are supposed to be in line with the Organisational objectives. It also takes into account both the actual performance, training needs and ability to grow in the organisation(soft skills). Can you please show me what was your annual KRA, your performance against the same for last 10 years, the organisation's (GOI) performance against the stated goals etc? Pls dont write without understanding the meaning of what you write, so typical of a Govt employee! besided, this pay raise is not only for the defense sector! It applies to all employees of GoI. And, the money doesn't come from "some one up there". We the people of India pay taxes and that money is used for the Govt employees and therefore you are called the Govt servants! Have some respect for those paying you!

The very first thing govt shld do kick of those 90% non perfromers and then give 100% hike to rest, we tax payers don't mind that much hike.

Some body pelase clean up this paste called as central govt employess :(

hardworking govt. employees - wow!!
by Arbab Azmi on Mar 24, 2008 03:50 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I was demanded Rupees 600 by police for the police verification of my passport, adding generously that its their allocated BUDGET for the enquiry. Lesser I pay "they loose".

Wow!!! hardworking Govt. employee. Aint they?
Definitely the Govt. should reward them for their hard work.

Why the govt. isnt applying performance & target based work execution policy for the reward instead - synonimously paying more to the lethargic & non-performing employees. Why the Govt. is bent on retaining these staffs. (I HAVE NO CLUE).

Accountability & transparency for all should be implemented. At the same time a performance achievement report should be demanded.
