Thumbs down

We should not allow these type of products gets marketing here in India.By flooding these type of cheap vehicle, our own automobile industry may come under threat, causing close down and unemployement.
It may benifit to greedy agents like Mr. Ganguly but at the cost of our economy and self sufficiency.
And moreover,It will be two way gain for China, as they can dump their product and kill their competetors.
If at all these type of products are necessary, then govt should impose high tax on imported items and should give heavy subsidy on indegenous developed products.

we need electricity based cars to controll pollution and self dependency as the oil prices are going up day by day. we need to produce electricity more in a way that won't pollute the air, As i heared nuclear energy can be obtained like that, so we need to have access to higher nuclear tecnology to produce electricity. we know what has to be done but there is no will among the politicians and concensus among the political parties and poeple, what to do and who is gonna do.

We highly appreciate such cares as it works out to run on electric charge. We expect dealers will be appointed in our city also to give good service to our customers throughout. I have capacity to encourage such cars by all means. If required contact me.

Can fill a specific category

Electric vehicles can be used in congested urban areas. Even more useful would be to use them to replace man-powwered rickshaws as well as the highly polluting auto-rickshaws (that run on 2-stroke engines. In fact 2-stroke engines must be banned as they cause more pollution and have poorer fuel efficiency.

Appears to be a good attempt
by ACM on Mar 18, 2008 03:42 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

When one talks about new product management, it appears that these range of Vehicles have found a very important - even noble - slot to fill. However, here are the shortfalls I have seen in this promotion - if one can label it that.
1. Reputation. For most people in the world, the car is the most important purchase after a home and people tend to be cautious about the purchase of one. Without a brand name backing the product, I'm not sure how many will be ready to shell out Rs.100,000 on an experiment. 2. Promotion: Thanks to the no frills approach of the management team of Tara, the photos above felt like the car had been photographed in a mom and pop garage. The employees posing for this look like daily wage workers rather than factory workers or management. Compare this with the promotion enjoyed by Tata Nano.
3. Lack of glamour: Perception is very important when it comes to Cars. Like it or not - most people are evaluated by how they travel along with where they live in the society. To put it in another way - Most people will not buy a "poor man's car". Most people will buy a "cool" car. The Nano has understood this very and hence the scale of glamor in it's marketing. In case of Tara - for all it's good intentions - they've got this all wrong.
4. There is no safety information - a big no-no in a car promotion. How is this different from a golf cart?
5. There is no information on its road readyness.
6. Lack of plan B during Load shedding.

Again - I'm not saying that these products will fail. I sure hope they do not. But they sure have not done their research on marketing history and it' would be a pity if a good product in a ripe market does not find it's place in the people's heart because it was not marketed right.

The vehicles are to be time tested
by mallaiah anchoori on Mar 18, 2008 12:57 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Let us not fall prey to all these publicity stunts resorted to by various entrepreneurs entering the market newly-in a way to create some sensation also.Tomorrow it is likely that some one say that they are coming into maket with yet another cheaper car costing only Rs 50,000/-Even if such cars come into the market it needs to be remembered with every reduction in price there is going to a slip in the technical set up of the vehicle. So,the ultimate test to determine whether or not a car is really cheap is only when it is tested on the road with its sustainability over a period of time.

Even when power available, get the same half doz. bongs, rein them in at the front and let them pull you..

Tata will try to kill Tara
by promod rampal rampal on Mar 17, 2008 09:59 PM  Permalink

In our country, dominated by corrupt politicians, Tata will surely try to supress the Tara product even before it is finally launched by playing political games like getting ban from govt. by introducing some new policies, like bajaj has done for their Three wheelers, as they are the only co. in India who has monopoly in making CNG 4 stroke 3 wheelers( which is exhorbitantly priced) and have number of patents in their engines. Whosoever tries to introduce 4 stroke 3 wheelers, bajaj gets them banned. Same was done with Daewoo Motors and Fiat by playing political games by Maruti Udyog etc. to get the strike done in their factories and ruined these companies. Its India! Wait and watch! You will never know where has the company vanished!

I think the best solution to save energy is to commercially bring solar powered cars ad other simple items such as fans, coolers and lights. Theseshud b priced affordably and mustbe exhibited in one of the exhibitions in major cities of India. This will save so much of energy. not enough is being done to launch solar powered items in India. The reason is best known to the government. Anyone listening?
