Mangalore city
by rajani varma on Mar 08, 2008 11:12 AM  Permalink

Vicky Nanjappa,
If you dont know some of the the facts, dont bluff.
Please not it is either Bajpai or Vajpayee airport in Managalore. its Bajpe airport.

The term Bajpe is a Tulu ( local language, majority of people speak)word.

Bajpe, Parpe, Padpe, Barpe all of these are the some of Tulu words.

Parpe (drinks), Barpe mean coming. The people started to tell Barpe, later became Bajpe.

If Buying a propert in Mangalore is considered a good investment.. I think i can forgive the US banks for getting drawn into sub prime lending. The city of mangalore is not even cosmopolitan, dominated by the tulu speaking community.Has harsh weather, lacks infrastructure (common to most of the indian cities) and as far as IT companies go people in the IT sector consider it as a punishment to be posted to mangalore.
SO guys please stop hyping the real estae boom in mangalore..! One look at the communal riots that take place annually in mangalore is enough to make u leave the city.

that is a good one. Actually there is too much hype in everything that is being done today and IT is the biggest catalyst. real estate prices are bloated everywhere because there are lots and lots of neo rich guys and women, mainly from IT and finanace sector( Locals and NRIs) who want to DOUBLE/or incearse manyfolds their money in quick time.

stop migrating
by GX on Mar 06, 2008 10:57 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Praise the locals for their tolerance, make them accept u. then bring all your folks from bihar and UP and spoil the city. Then when locals crib, like the MNS does in bombay, you get the help of intellectuals to quote certain sections from constitution allowing to settle!!

Listen dolt, manning a taxi is no soiling pristine hands. The issue is more that that meets the eye. A top executive of an MNC having everyone under his from his state. He asks his HR to go to his state and seek employees from that state. This is what is happening silently. One Mishra/pandey/Tyagi in a top MNC and u can see the whole lot in the company. This is what locals object to. Now dont give the crap that there is no local talent.
