Guys this is the first lesson of sensational journalism. Rs 50 to billionaire....then you read the article and it is clear. He went there with Rs 50 because that is how much Govt. allows....borrowed with the help of his arab friend 3000 riyal....then small time job etc. so there was a long journey. Many Indians left shore with Rs 50 in hand and became millionaire. That does not mean Rs 50 can make you Billionaire. In that case Ambani went to Yemen with even less money and his empire today is in Billions. Nevertheless PNC Menon's story is an example that with little luck and if you are willing to work hard and make best of opportunities you never know. Great job Mr. menon.
RE:Technically it started with 3000 riyals.

Amabni used to get molten the Yemen silver coins into bullion and export to UK thus extract money from it!

Rs 1500 is the ANNUAL TURNOVER of Sobha Developers in INDIA!!!! It is NOT his personal wealth. He has business in the Middle East as well. He is a Forbes billionaire because he has been accumulating wealth since 1976. Get your facts straight before you blabber something on a public forum.

and that too soba developers is a listed company, so his stake must be even smaller. Any way, see the theme behind this story. And highlight only those errors which are necessary like if his charity work is false. HE is in this case doing a good job which rediff has highlighted, rediff, there are lots of people like PNC.

Dollar billionaire i.e. approx Rs 4300 crores calculation is probably value of his shareholding in his company as per the market capitalisation of the company stock.
P N C MENON SIR, HATS OFF TO YOU, U ARE SIMPLY AMAZING. THE KIND & HELPING NATURE LIKE YOU SHOULD BE SEEN IN MANY RICH PEOPLE SO THATS HOW WE CAN ATLEAST WIPE THE TEARS OF MANY WHO ARE IN DISTRESS, ALWAYS I WILL REMEMBER YOU IN MY DAILY PRAYERS, GOD SHOULD STRNGTHN YOU IN ALL THAT YOU DO.
I have been living in the Gulf for more than 7 years now and the number of school drop-outs turned successful Indian businessmen are plenty here in the Middle East...
I think as Mr.Menon rightly pointed out, you have to be in a place which is beginning to grow and establish yourself quickly....Basically, the Early Bird in any place will get its worm...
Probably all these rag2riches kings have seen 'Trishul' innumerable times...so when they achieve something they just brag the same dialogues Amitabh mouthed.
like here: from Rs 50 to Billionaire.
but do you believe this crap...I don't and it doesn't matter.
