What if surplus 20000 Crores?
by DINESH BABU on Feb 25, 2008 04:25 PM  Permalink

No improvement in railway station infrastruture. please visit Pune railway station (for example) and the waiting hall which is one of famous international business destinations in India. It is no use if one earns crores but still his child living in a hut.

media is nothing but they are media monkeys

i dont understand why every one in media giving credit to lalu prasad for turnover .its quite natural that when economy is growing at 9% for last 5 years every sector get benefit .and for not increasing fare just go and buy a ticket and see wht actual figure ur paying the ticket which was earlier costing four year ago 400 rs is now costing over 500 just by making 100 of trains superfast without any real increase in speed he had made us to pay 30 rs more in sleeper and 40rs in ac classes.and whole media is saying that lalu has not increased fare for last 4 years .one more example jusy take a meal from railway pantry car and u will end up paying 45rs which was earlier costing 25 rs .tell me who will pay these all increase rate .one more example three years ago railways doesnt charge any single rupee in cancellation of waitlist ticket but now they charge 20 rs .and more thing railway is not a listed company so it doesnt follow any international accounting practices so u may find after two three yaers that all these profits were nothing but just manipulation of accounts.yes railways is doing gud but tell me which secotr doing bad in last 5 years in india.even agriculture is showing healthy growth.

dear sir,
There is nothing wrong in someone claiming the credit for goodthing afterall , it happened in their tenure and contribution still proclaimed nothing wrong!!
but as a common public let us talk about the the cut in fares and cut in miscellaneous charges and when we talk of removing charges for ATMs irrespective of the bank , we have to pay more for bookin from a different station afterall, it is the man's gift of IT
similarly the lalu should propose for a proportoinate refund for so called trains running so late and so super slow !! Is he prepared to compensate and in such case we pay for the so called super fast tarins running late hours together . compensate for the passengers and take money and it should not be one sided where the consumerism and law has gone in case of railways.

thanks

Laloo Yadav
by Rajesh Vyas on Feb 25, 2008 04:06 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is hightime the Media--Rediff Included--stopped glorifying this destroyer of Bihar. He does not deserve all this coverage.

He is accused of a collosal fraud and thanks to manmohan and Sonia is getting the undeserved importance.

As far as the Railways so called turnaround is concerned, it may be a hogwash and a fraud. Has an independent audit agency certified these figures? Can we believe Laloo's claim? we should never believe his figures. These figures must be taken with a ladle of salt.

People like Laloo should have no place in public life. We can do better without thelikes of him

If given a choice I would vote for Lalu instead of Sonia as he also takes pride in Nations's cultural and religious heritage.

Laloo the railway minister

Ofcourse I fully agree with that he is a fool & funny personality. I do not think he is that much capable minister in a vast country like India. He can not be given credit as the all work related to Budget is done by capable officials of Railway. It is better to talk more.

Yes Lalu is smart. He made the Bihar beggar. Forget about making any govt. machinary profitable in Bihar. I think people of Bihar will never forgive him. Just ask the people there; how Bihar was ruled under him. Many people thinks that he is criminal and should be jail.

What ever said and done
by humanist on Feb 25, 2008 03:29 PM  Permalink

Whatever said and done, Malayalees will always haite him as a person who divided Kerala by railway zones.

Hope is there if a separate railway zone for Kerala is developed, only if....

Otherwise that action will be remembered for ever by them.....

Its is easy to criticise
by kundan kumar on Feb 25, 2008 03:21 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

i never knew there are hell lot of duffers in our country who criticise his work. Do u feel IIM and other premier univ across world are foolish enough to acknowlegde his acumen......
If things were so easy why it was not implemented since last 18 years ...
As for development of bihar is concerned ,I am from bihar ,to survive there in politics business or simply to have an above average living u got to have some muscle power...... else u ill get luv letters.

However,I agree infrastructure ,administration and industry were not developed during his time ...but I believe these are superficial things because when bullets is inside ur body no matter how many antibiotics u take, it is not going to heal..... He has done operation by removing the curse of casteism from minds of people to a great extent.....and other things is bound to fall in place as every night comes to an end.

what is disappointing is that our own people are mocking at us . Rather that reflects our indian culture....

Bread and circuses
by Suresh Bhave on Feb 25, 2008 03:16 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Julius Ceasar, I think, said that Romans needed bread and circuses. So do our media and even Rediffmail. Advertisement is their bread and Shri Laluprasad Yadav is clowning for their circus. He has his positives, no doubt. He has converted Indian Railways into Bihar's privately owned corporation, filling not only the trains with Biharis leaving that state for every destination in India, but also filling the jobs in the Railways with his country cousins. He is a lucky man, too. With him as the captain the railways have made a profit. But is it because he holds the helm, or is it because the favorable economic climate that boosted industrial production and gave the railways goods in sufficient qualntities so that a surplus over the expenditure was left in the balance sheet. I am sure that the directors of IIMs are not unaware of such simple management truth, but it pays to bow to the ruling deity, and that deity happens to be Shri Lalu Prasad ji Yadav
