Nowadays Most firms expect employees to work harder and harder and ...... with added stress. Since relatively older people may not always match the younger ones on this the firms tend to remove them or do not hire them
It is good to know that age is no issue . That is great. I hope they will also move away from the IIT/IIM phobis and start treating people equally based on skill sets.
But the sad truth is that seniors are forced to return to workforce due to rising cost -- instead of resting and enjoying their retired life
This is not such a great news when the rising cost of living forcing retired people to hunt for a job again

i agree with u Mr.raj, first the seniors in the age bracket of 45 to 55 serving as vice presidents have to change their mentaity of giving oppurtunities rather than growing their alumini of iit's and iim's........lot of other college qualified engrs and management students do perform when task is given...but the entry to the post is shutoff by the college preference..........pragmatism has to prevail rather than certificates alone....
Today companies look for talent n skill sets for faster growth and higher turnover. Loyalty, commitment are things which companies donot associate with now. The more unfortunate part is an employee who contributes to the development of the orgn. may get ignored to a newer entrant on the basis of his/her age. What companies forget is not all employees can be 100% achievers. There can only be one Tl, one Mgr or One head in a dept. But the dept needs many people to operate and function. Which when apprasing the employee we tend to ignore. Similarly the older people can contribute in various aspects of social development, if not economic. What they need is encouragement. Youngsters worry on rigidity of thr older lot but how flexible are we? No wonder India despite attaing the GDP targets has a long way to go for social, infrastuctural & cultural development.
It is true that even though there is an age for retirement etc., But still there are so many citizens in India who can work hard but not been given the opportunity to serve further. I can quote that the so called classified older generation as per the present age group of 20 to 35 can work sincerly and hard and with integrity than the present generation. Now the younger age group are more interested in earning money in short cut methods and fast. We can see in the present situation in the new private banks and the other service providers the younger generation do not stay for long service. They simply jump from one organization to other even within a span of 6 months. The employers only have to blame for this. Previously by going through the bio data if a candidate is a rolling stone they never used to appoint. Nowadays the employers do not look into this aspect. Hence these days you will come across inexperienced and people without basic and foundation working in new private banks mobile service providers etc
It is widely seen now days in the corporate culture that when people attain the age of above 40, they have been thrown out from their job without any cogent reason and even without any compensation. In most of such cases those who had been thrown out from the job are the contributors for the growth of that organisation and their honesty, integrity and loyality never considered.
People have no option but to leave the organisation with tears.Because of loophole in the existing law and bad economical condition of the job loosers, nobody approach court also.
Since most of our politicians are above 60 and there is no age bar in politics. In Govt. job also consider for pension on attaining 58. Therefore, some strict law should be enforced to check corporate's CRS (compulsory retirement Scheme). Regards Rajan George
It's great to know that some companies consider age as no bar for employing guys with talent. In my personal experience I have come across a number of company's who prefer to employ ex servicemen and this is agreat gesture. But still a lot needs to be done. Individuals who join the armed forces at a very young age retire from services between the age of 40 and 55 depending upon their terms of engagement and these guys have a lot of experience and talent which if channelised properly, the private sector firms will stand to gain a lot. I earnestly request all private companies especially the IT/ITES companies to welcome the ex servicemen in to thier fold with open arms.
